Virginia AG Race Update
http://www.republicanmainstreet.org/News/190.htm ^ | November 12, 2005

Office: Attorney General

Precincts Reporting: 2426 of 2426 (100.00%) Registered Voters: 4,449,025 Total Voting: 1,942,653 Voter Turnout: 43.66 % Candidates Party Vote Totals Percentage R F McDonnell Republican 970,635 49.96% R C Deeds Democratic 970,225 49.94% Write Ins 1,793 0.09% View Results by District Locality Total: 1,942,653

Anyone know the virginia election laws?

From what I have read is McDonnell's lead is shrinking because of late absentee ballots from out of state college kids.

Anyone know how many provisional ballots were cast and how long the canvassing is going to last. How many absentee ballots are left to cast? They certify the result on november 28 then you get to ask for a recount if it is under 1 percent which it will be.

It always seems in these elections that the dem gains after the election because of mistakes by dem poll workers in dem precincts. Conservative precincts never seem to have any trouble.

Deeds was down by 4,000 and now it's down to 400 and they are still canvassing and then the recount. McDonnell would make a great AG hope he can miraculously hold on to the lead.

The "canvassing" will continue until the Dems have enough new "votes" to steal the election. They will then call on the Republican candidate to stop the unnecessary delays and concede.

See: Washington State, also Florida

The NRA endorsed the democrat (Deeds) giving him an "A" with the republican McDonnell getting a B+. If McDonnel loses no major loss IMHO.

Deeds is pro illegals, pro qoutas for affirmative action, weak on sexual predators.

McDonnel is pro second amendment and great on the other issues.

Deeds and Kerry are good friends. Deeds is a kerry clone except for the second amendment. Deeds is an enviornmental nut too that will be enforce laws like the liberal he is.

Well, it was shortly after Halloween and we can't be sure how many people rose from the dead to get out and vote.

Under Virginia law, the loser may request a recount but not until the state Board of Elections certifies the results, which will occur Nov. 28. If the winner's lead is less than one-half of 1 percent, the state will pay for the recount, election officials said

If McDonnell loses, the Democrats get a high-profile gubernatorial candidate for 2009.

I'm stunned at how close this was to begin with, given what an unknown Deeds was.

Also, one of the things being looked into was that some of the new electronic machines in the Roanoke area were showing people voted for McDonnell when they had actually voted for Deeds. Some called the problem to the attention of poll workers at the time, but we can only hope there weren't more that didn't.

"McDonnel is pro second amendment and great on the other issues. "

Too bad he wasn't as "pro-second Amendment" as the democrat.....he might have won. Republicans should take note.

Only 400 votes apart. The Dems are pros. They can steal 400 more votes in their sleep. Might as well hand the crooks the seat.
