Those urbane Frenchy-French are maintaining serenity. I did not realize the past couple of weeks had been serene.
Chirac dealing with this is what we need to watch. Will he be successful or will someone be voted off of the island?
I'm sure (I hope) we have contingency plans should this happen widespread in the US or other European countries besides France. President Bush really needs to speak to world leaders and reemphasize that 'you are with us or you are with the terrorists.'
I imagine Chirac regrets his previous checker move to Pres. Bush's chess move.
It is not too late, M. Chirac. Join in the war on world terrorism, but if it looks like you are going to screw us one more time, I don't EVEN want to know the consequences that will be considered!

How to break Chirac: the whole police force walks off the job for a couple days. No police at all will make the Worm think twice.

Were you aware that Sheboygan is my home town or was that just a lucky guess?Huh! If my life had depended on guessing your home town then I would now be dead.
Wisconsin goes with cheese and many of us non-Sheboyganites find the name humorous.

"I wouldn't blame the police for abandononing their post." Yup. The army should be handling this continuing problem.

We are used to dealing with urban violence and we have kept our serenity. Chirac serene as Paris burns.

Love your pic!
Tom is irritated over this story, but I'm not :)

"102 juveniles have received custodial sentences."
Maybe the "custodians" need to be sentanced too for not controlling their kids. Oh wait, the kids are doing what they are taught to do at the mosque. Nevermind.

First thing I thought, too, when I saw this headline. "Ruh Roh," big time!
I'm not knowledgeable about French law enforcement...can I assume the local police are first line? Is there a second line of defense like perhaps our National Guard?
If this quickly blows up and out-of-hand, does Chirac declare martial law or something like that?
I'm thinking of Iran, too, as I post this. Should the student movement "take to the streets," would the mullahs declare a martial law situation? Would they have the police or troops to back up a martial law situation?

a whole new chapter in this sorry affair This is not just an 'affair'...this is the next step in the evolution of the jihadist movement...
Humans are not evolutionary...a study of the history of the Peloponnesian war is a road map for what is happening today...
Its only a matter of time before the persistent chaos has its effect...
And with each day we grow closer to 'a' seminal moment...
It will be interesting to see what the western humans do at that precise point in time...which is coming...
