"[There's] no real support system for a trauma, for a life-threatening immediate incident that takes place. That throws your whole life into a tailspin," said Tracy East.
East is another mom who camped at her injured child's bedside day and night. She realized there isn't anything to get parents through this.

Story aside, why do Mother-based orgs always have to be named "against" something? Their name makes no sense.
Probably because your not going to find too many mother FOR brain injuries, or FOR drunk driving.
I don't know....
I agree they could have a more positive name, but I guess since it's stuck they won't want to change it.
Ol' Wings just finished his motorcycle safety and (re-)certification course this week....
Learned a lot... ESPECIALLY...
Helmets on... boys & girls....
Mean tough ol' bikers too....
Yes, it's your freedom... and your prerogative....
But the statistics don't lie... especially for motorcyclists.
Do the smart thing ---even if it isn't as cool...
Anybody have an ElectraGlide Classic for sale?
We were alone with no support. Worse, the doctors turned away from us and our own families shunned our problem in shame.
How we would have loved a kind word from anyone at all or even a token of sympathy. It never arrived and we just had to make do.
I cheer on this group.

LOL not here. After living in a big city for a while and seeing how people drive I would wear a helmet "if" I was on a bike. Why? Because life is good!
I'm so sorry you experienced that. There is no shame in having one of God's special children. The way I look at it God saw something "special" in you or He wouldn't have given you the responsibility and blessing of caring for that child. I pray the blessings have and will continue to outnumber the trials.
They have to be against something to make it easier for the liberal factions to subvert and pervert the original intentions of the group and turn it into a pro-scum, anti-decency political force.
Thanks, that is the way it was in those days, with old parents and old ideas. They saw shame. We saw a challenge and as time went on, we saw a wonderful blessing that we were the ones to take care of a living angel. He lived 26 years in spite of the doctors and lived a happy life. He changed our lives forever for the better, we like to think.

Watch and see if this well-meaning organization doesn't metamorphose into something a bit more insidious ... I'm thinking "mandatory helmets for all people out-of-doors." Prevents brain injuries, you know.
Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) injury/fatality/cause factor studies from the whole years 1991-2004.
The recent fatality low was in 1997 (2116) and for all of 2004 nearly doubled (4008).
More than 50% of all motorcycle fatalities are attributed to head/brain trauma... and for those who live...
One of the overall and ongoing statistical conclusions is that a rider who crashes without a helmet is 5X more likely to incur serious head/brain injuries....
Pay your money... take your chances....
As I said in the original post...
Your freedom... your prerogative... ultimately..
Your choice...
All due respect for your many years of experience and activism.... My sincere thanks for your dignified aproach to the debate....(SAAAAA--luuute)...
I also have 31 years in the (aviation) safety business...
(These days renewing my riding enjoyment after completing one successful career -- now moving more toward significance than success; and graduating a houseful of kids that are all smarter than the old man).
Though all of the physics aren't the same, a few basic principles do transfer cleanly:
(1) If you want to win the (safety/survival) game -- stack the deck in your favor.... everytime... and
(2) Safety is an attitude ( or lack thereof)...
I hope neither of us suffer the opportunity to prove the point firsthand!
Enjoy the ride.... please do stay safe... be blessed!
Thanks for the conversation.
Maybe they will, maybe they won't.
Who knows?
For now they are performing a ministry to people who aren't getting a shoulder to lean on when they need it.
The HIPPA laws have made it so that even if you tell they hospital you'd like your pastor to visit they won't contact the church to tell them you're hospitalized.
I'm sure you are right that your lives were bettered by his. I know you have many beautiful memories of him. One day you'll be reunited.
What about
Mothers Against Mothers Againsts?
Then somebody should just start Mothers Against Decency and cut right to the chase. ;)
M.A.M.A.
That works.
