After 30 years hiatus....

Ol' Wings just finished his motorcycle safety and (re-)certification course this week....

Learned a lot... ESPECIALLY...

Helmets on... boys & girls....
Mean tough ol' bikers too....

Yes, it's your freedom... and your prerogative....
But the statistics don't lie... especially for motorcyclists.

Do the smart thing ---even if it isn't as cool...

Anybody have an ElectraGlide Classic for sale?

LOL not here. After living in a big city for a while and seeing how people drive I would wear a helmet "if" I was on a bike. Why? Because life is good!

What stats are you talking about that don't lie?

The fed gov's own stats say that a head injured helmeted rider cost more to hospitalize than a head injured helmetLESS rider.

(FARS report 1994)

Head injuries are one thing, spinal cord trauma is something else.

The reason for the stat being skewed like this is because the helmeted rider lived, as a dependent cripple. The helmetless rider either died, (we don't count dead in this mix, cause the dead don't cost money, which is what this is all about, nothing else) or was rehabed.

Another stat. We know for a fact that a helmet's efficacy ends at the great speed of 14mph. That's not a misprint. Its 14. After that, a problem occurs, we move from traumatic head injury right into traumatic spine injury.

The bottom line is this. There have been NO STUDIES DONE on helmet efficacy. No crash tests, no dynamic tests, nothing.

So the "stats" that the safety nannies are yakking about usually got pulled out of someone's ass.

I could go on for pages. But remember this:

Christopher Reeves ended up in a chair because of his helmet.
Dale Eirnhart (sp?) was killed by his helmet.
Gary Bussey is a little dumber and uglier, but is still working and making movies.

I know you will respond, so have at it, but understand that I have about 25 years of activism on this subject.

Know what an "axinal rotation" is?

I'm looking for a 45'. Hard to find at what I'm willing to pay.
