Ol' Scooter Libby was awarded the Department of Defense Distinguished Service Award and the Department of the Navy Distinguished Public Service Award in 1993....... from the Clinton Administration.

Libby's spouse is Harriet Grant, a Democrat, who was General Counsel to the Judiciary Committee when it was chaired by Joe Biden (when Dems were in the majority). Mrs Libby was probably part of the Democrat attack machine that slimed Clarence Thomas during his nomination hearings. The Libby's dinnertime conversation must have been interesting.

It's not at all reassuring to authentic conservatives that Libby and spouse were hostile to the social conservative agenda, while Libby was holding power in a conservative admin.

Libby held three titles in the Bush admin: (1) Cheney's chief of staff, (2) national security adviser to the vice president, and (3) assistant to President George W. Bush -- a sign of Libby's broad influence.

It's not at all reassuring to authentic conservatives that Libby and spouse were hostile to the social conservative agenda This is the most maddening thing about Republican Office-Holders in general, and about the Bush WH in particular.. . instead of seeking out Republicans for top staff posts, which is not hard since they present themselves, they will select staff from a corps of wily democrat bureaucrats who infest Washington like fleas on a dogs blanket. In many cases they are the sons and grandsons of carpetbagging New Dealers who came to town in the '30's. They know the ropes, they are lefties to a man, and they have an absolute lock on the process.

Check out the staffs of your own representatives. At the moment, my friends, congressional offices are uniformly staffed with a collection of left-leaning clymers who would be more at home marching in Gay Pride Parades and attending Barbra Streisand concerts than in joining you (make that me) for a beer at the VFW.

Your innuendo, words like "probably," and phrases like "must have been" are so comforting. And your contention that only "authentic conservatives" should agree with this stuff is highly insulting. (I was waiting to read the word "neocon" in your posts here, but maybe that's too flagrant a tipoff.)

I find attacks on people in the Bush administration --in order to attack the President himself-- disingenuous and sneaky.

Look, I don't dismiss anything you posit here as unbelievable. But excuse me if I wait until things thoroughly unfold before I decide just who the real bad guys are.
