HILL DUCKS LIBBY ISSUE (shazam---pardon issues reopen Clintons' wounds)
NY POST ^ | November 12, 2005 | IAN BISHOP

Posted on 11/12/2005 6:31:47 AM PST by Liz

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton is staying silent as top Democratic senators demand President Bush rule out a pardon for indicted top White House aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby — which could evoke memories of her and her husband's own Pardongate scandal.

Party leaders — have written a letter to Bush urging that he promise not to pardon Libby, who has been charged with obstruction of justice and perjury in the CIA-leak case........Clinton ducked taking a position on the letter.

Rekindled comparisons to Pardongate would open old wounds for the first lady, who is readying for re-election and eyeing a run for the White House in 2008.

Bill Clinton created an uproar when he issued 11th-hour pardons to 140 people before he left office.

Sen. Clinton herself came under fire when feds investigated whether she offered clemency to four men from the Hasidic village of New Square in exchange for the community's votes in her 2000 Senate run. She has denied playing a role in the men's pardons.

I will never forget the last night of Clinton being in office. Many of us Freepers stood outside the White House chanting "no more pardons". Little did we know how right we were.

(We were in DC for the inauguration the next day.)

Yes, we were well-rid of Clinton. He also, on the say-so of the Cardinal Mahoney of LA, pardoned a drug kingpin.

Of course if the GOP doesn't start speaking with one voice, we'll have the Clinton Presidency II to deal with. There is no doubt that the carping from within has been very injurious to the Bush administration.

Thankfully Bush and Cheney would never join the chorus calling for Libby's scalp. They have far too much class for that.

Right. All of Bush's problems are due to this one Jew, eh?

Who mentioned anything about him being a Jew? Only one with a Jew-Tin-foil hat seems to be you! All I've read so far is that he's a DNC hack and loves to see traitors pardoned that helped Arab Despots dictators who want to see Israel wiped off the face of the earth!

And THIS woman wants to be President? She is ALWAYS ducking issues. She is just not smart enough to be President. Neither was her husband. The left drove his presidency. both of them are losers. His legacy will always and forever be Monica Lewinsky.

Lewinsky Legacy...Bill Clinton the worst president this country has ever had bar none. Carter comes in second.

Nope. But I think it does. To "the usual suspects" and all. The ones who always seem to pick out the Jew to attack. The Jew who didn't like "The Passion of the Christ" (such as Charles Krauthammer) for instance. It's a pattern...

I call a spade a spade. It's part of my charm. :)

Bush is not Ashcroft's subordinate. It's the other way around. Bush allowed the special prosecutor because he promised the American people, publically, that his administration would find the leak and the Democrats were turning the whole micro-mess into one of their cardboard campaign platforms.

This seemed a good thread to remind people that Clinton pardoned 16 FALN terrorists in order to garner the Hispanic vote for Hillary. And, of course, let's not remember the Marc Rich pardon. Rich was heavily involved in the Oil for Food scandal and a good supporter of Saddam.

The Clinton admin's midnight hour Rich pardon created a global firestorm. In a blatant breach of established protocol, Clinton did not even notify the Dept of Justice. Rich is really sleazy---one of the biggest convicted tax evaders in US history, who renounced his American citizenship to evade prosecution, and fled abroad to escape the clutches of the law.

All I've read so far is that he's a DNC hack...

And where did you read that? So Dick Cheney is so dim that he had a DNC hack in his inner circle? Or do you think "what you have read" carries more weight than Cheney's experience and personal knowledge of Libby? Come to think of it, I suppose Cheney should fire Mary Matalin. After all, she is married to a REAL "DNC hack."

How you continously link "The Passion of the Christ" to Libby is pretty strange. Did the movie upset you that much?

Nice hatchet job.

1.Libby was one of Marc Rich's lawyers prior to entering the Bush administration. Not too surprising he would call him after the pardon, not as an administration official but in a private capacity.

2.Calling Libby a Democrat doesn't make him one. I think I'll trust the Vice-President on this.

3.Regarding your comment "sure doesn't sound like something a conservative would write" concerning the literary style of the letter to Judith Miller, I'm a little confused--and outraged. As a writer and a conservative, I didn't know there was a required style for conservatives.

Or that anyone had the gall and self-assumed credentials to critique someone's writing for an approved conservative style. Please send me the template so I can conform to the narrow confines of the 'official conservative style'

What you say about Scooter Libby is true
BUT HEY! You're back with all the anti Jew stuff you can dig up! What rock were you hiding under? Were you in intensive therapy, preferably with a Jewish head shrinker?

You really should get up the courage to debate me on these threads. I'm just a harmless little fuzzball, as Rush says, and considering that fact that I am a professional writer and editor, (in other words I actually make a living at it) and I know quite a bit about the publishing world, it would be a natural. Seeing as how you fancy yourself a writer, you might learn a few things.

What administration was THAT?

After all, he wrote a book that nobody here has read, yet some feel comfortable as characterizing as "porn", making Libby out to be Larry Flynt...

Yeah, I bet it's no worse than Liz Cheney's! ;-)

Liz's forte was (is she really back?) to cherry pick stuff from the NY Post that made Jews and blacks look bad. Liz thinks Jews are the major menace to the West, not Islam. Even as France burns and Euro nations have Muslim riots and automobile burnings

It's not at all reassuring to authentic conservatives that Libby and spouse were hostile to the social conservative agenda This is the most maddening thing about Republican Office-Holders in general, and about the Bush WH in particular.. . instead of seeking out Republicans for top staff posts, which is not hard since they present themselves, they will select staff from a corps of wily democrat bureaucrats who infest Washington like fleas on a dogs blanket. In many cases they are the sons and grandsons of carpetbagging New Dealers who came to town in the '30's. They know the ropes, they are lefties to a man, and they have an absolute lock on the process.

Check out the staffs of your own representatives. At the moment, my friends, congressional offices are uniformly staffed with a collection of left-leaning clymers who would be more at home marching in Gay Pride Parades and attending Barbra Streisand concerts than in joining you (make that me) for a beer at the VFW.

Your Two-Party System at work. The Party of the Stupid and the Party of the Evil. Problem is The Stupid hire The Evil.

Um. The article says Democrat senators

I think the reference was to Libby, some described as a Democrat on this thread. So...has anyone looked at his actual party registration?
