I wonder if this girl's mother has any idea how shallow and money grubbing she looks. She'd probably accept a lethal injection for her daughter if it were a condition of an out-of-court cash settlement. This is all about money.

An Australian woman who is deaf, blind and physically and mentally disabled wants to sue the doctor who allowed her to be born.

"Doctor, this Court finds you "Guilty as Charged" and sentences you to euthanize this woman."

Imagine your mom telling you she'd prefer to have aborted you. If that's not a sure way to get someone to lose his/her will to live, I don't know what is.

In any case, deafblindness sounds worse than it is; it is rather common and with today's technology it is quite possible to lead a productive, independent life & have a great career/family. The mental disabilities--I've a feeling that they're more on the level of ADD rather than mental retardation, especially since that the article gives you the impression that the deafblind girl's the one doing the suing, and not her mom.

Glasses. Interesting. There's a HUGE difference in quality of life between those who are "totally blind" and merely "legally blind". It's all about money, indeed.

Thanks, I missed the glasses! I knew someone who was legally blind but passed a driver's test.

I think I should have said the mother and lawyer of this very challenged young woman are unaware of God's grace. Not everyone has the wisdom and strength that Helen Keller had.

why now? what changed? why at 24 yo have things gotten to this point for her (and her "with friends like these, who needs enemies" mother)?

overlawyered -- I'll say.

Maybe the doctor should sue the mother for bringing such an awkward situation to him to defame his character.

The article refers to her as being mentally disabled, not mentally ill.

I suspect that today's psychiatric community would also label the young Helen Keller as mentally diabled/possibly ill.

One interpretation of human life is that there is biological, physical life that is formed genetically. Then there is a thinking soul life, that is God breathed upon the physical body being separated from the womb. Then the spirit being regenerated by God the Holy Spirit upon placing faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The unbeliever and all humans are dichotomous at birth, body and soul, while the believer is trichotomous, with body, soul, and spirit.

By this anthropology, the mother declares she would have had an abortion, or destroyed the body before it was formed completely in the womb, had she known the consequences today. Meanwhile, no man is able to give soul life, but it is a gift of God by His perfect plan. God knew from eternity past what the child would possess in her body and soul and is prepared to regenerate her spirit. If she lacks the ability to unserstand the Gospel throughout her first life, God is free to provide her eternal life in heaven, because Christ has already died on the Cross and fully resolved the justice of God.

IMHO, the mother seeks to cause grief of anybody, especially those destined for heaven in her vengeful soulish behavior.

If she truly loved even her fellow man, let alone her daughter, she sould never tell her daughter she would choose an abortion over being her mother as she actually has become, regardless the process.
