Oh yeah!.... Now there's someone to really listen to Sen. Rick Self Sanctimonious Sadducee Santorum. He is a defiling Pharisee

Certainly, mistakes were made, Santorum said of the wars conduct. But thats a criticism you can make of every conflict.
The entire article seems to revolve around the above quote. Much ado about nothing.

Senator Santorum is at the receiving end of a massive media propaganda campaign to remove him from the Senate. Not a single good word has been printing on him in the past year, and the media has successfully driven a wedge between Santorum and his base, even though he is one of the most conservative members of the Senate; and what's worse is that many so-called "conservatives" are buying into the MSM spin...

From this quote:
"Certainly, mistakes were made, Santorum said of the wars conduct. But thats a criticism you can make of every conflict.
They got this??:
"Santorum Critical Of Bush, War In Iraq"
And this??
"Santorum, a conservative Republican and usually a strong Bush ally, said the unpopularity of the war should be shared between the White House and the media."
Either the author is projecting or I'm missing somethng.

It looks like the AP is hoping everyone reads just the headline and not the article.
The headline is very misleading!

I agree with the others saying this is media spin. They're trying to make a mountain out of a mole-hill. Have mistakes been made in this war? Of course! War is an enterprise run by imperfect human beings, it would be insane to expect perfection.
This is a media smear more than anything else.

For those of you who support the "high ground" theory, here is a perfect example of why it has been important for Bush & CO to defend themselves against these hateful and malicious attacks.
Now even a conservative incumbent republican finds it necessary to distance himself from Bush while adding credibility to the democrat talking point that the war has been mis-managed.
The only thing that has been mis-managed is the political war against the libs. Bush and Co. are being B***H slapped all over the place. They are being thrown around like a midget wrestler trying to pin Hulk Hogan.

That's one of the most misleading headlines I've ever read. Santorum is absolutely right. Mistakes are made in every war.

OK Rick. Felt sorry for you when you had your breakdown and some other times as well but...ya know what? You are on your own now. WhatEVER you run for I hope you lose big time. To stab President Bush in the back like you jsut did is unforgiveable. You are a disgrace and no longer have our support. You can hang out there to dry next time YOU are in trouble...we sure as hell won't help you. Thanks for nothing. Shame on you. Shame on you. Good luck on YOUR next election!!!

One more example of the Associated Press writing a Bush-Bashing "Headline" that cannot be backed up by the "Story Text."
What's Santorum going to say....."No, no.....the war has been conducted flawlessly!"

If sanity-impaired Santorum thinks he can pick up a few votes by bashing Bush he is sorely mistaken. If he loses his conservative base he gains nothing.
What do they do when these people get to DC - surgically remove all their principles?

Certainly, mistakes were made, Santorum said of the wars conduct. But thats a criticism you can make of every conflict. The MSM's brainwashing of the public continues. There is not a more (socially)conservative member of congress than Rick Santorum.
The fact that the light minded among us are ready to throw Rick overboard is proof that the barrage is working.
For those who think Casey is unbeatable, does anybody remember the campaign against Rendell?
When Mr. Casey wasn't slinging bushels of mud he sounded like a sociology 101 Community College Professor who was also an officer in the local service employees union. Sit back, don't vote. It can't get any worse. Right?

[My guess is this quote is taken wildly out of context. The MSM has no lovbe of Santorum and will do everything to defeat him.]
Beginning to see that the liberal left news print media is not only using propaganda, but changes the meaning of a man's words and intentions; EVEN THE HEADLINE IS AN ATTEMPT TO MISQUOTE A CONSERVATIVE POLITICIAN.

This article is utter tripe.
- Santorum DID NOT take a swing at President Bush
- Santorum DID NOT say that some blame for that lies with the White House
- Santorum DID NOT say the unpopularity of the war should be shared between the White House and the media.
What Santorum DID SAY was this...
- Certainly, mistakes were made, But thats a criticism you can make of every conflict.
- Santorum criticized the media for unbalanced reporting on the Iraq war.
- The media only report the death toll, Santorum said.
- Santorum questioned how the public would have felt about World War II if the media had reported only the body count and not news of cities liberated by the Allies.
Now excuse me for reading and comprehending ENGLISH but the words White House and/or Bush are no where to be found in Santorum's comments. And the only direct quotes pertaining to criticism is aimed straight at the
media.
As to the the obscure 'mistakes' and 'criticism' blurbs in prosecuting the war, well that could easily be directed at the PENTAGON and or the Commanders in the field.
By this journalist 'standard' (sarcasm) FDR was directly responsible for the screw ups at:
- Pearl Harbor
- Wake Island
- Bataan
- Burma
- Operation Torch
- Kasserine Pass
- Anzio
- Battle Of Monte Casino
- D-Day
- Operation Market Garden
- The Battle Of The Bulge
- Not to mention sending our soldiers, sailors and marines into battle under trained and under equipped and in DEATH TRAPS like the LST (Long Slow Target) the Sherman Tank, and the Jeep (no armor, Oh My!).
Think any of that will fly with the leftist media? Naaah.
