Conservative Broadcaster Bill OReilly is making no apologies for his inflammatory comments about San Francisco.
"I'm from New York, OReilly said on the radio Friday. There are dozens of people in my neighborhood, on Long Island, who are dead because of 9/11, and you people are telling me you're not going to allow military recruiting out there. Hey, it's serious, and I think you guys need a wake-up call."
OReilly is upset about the citys proposition discouraging public schools from allowing military recruiters on campus. On his national radio show Tuesday, he said San Francisco should not get a nickel of federal funds.
"And if al Qaeda comes in here and blows you up, we're not going to do anything about it, he said. We're going to say, 'look every other place in America is off limits to you, except San Francisco. You want to blow up the Coit Tower, go ahead.'"
On Friday, San Francisco Supervisor Chris Daly told CBS 5 that he is taking action against OReilly by introducing a resolution demanding that Fox News executives fire the conservative host.
"I was outraged," Daly said. To green light terrorist attacks and violence shows a lot of hate, not a lot of humanity. It's un-American."
Daly says that San Francisco firefighters are livid over OReillys remarks because Coit Tower was built as a monument to their profession.
"To choose that target, given the context of bravery of New firefighters on Sept. 11th, is doubly harsh message from Bill OReilly, Daly said.
Mayor Gavin Newsom says the proposition does not mean that people in San Francisco are Anti-military. He says that people just have concerns about what he calls predatory recruiting.
If Bin Laden had flown planes into SF, would anyone have cared?
"....Liberals come to a gun fight armed with a very dull club. I thought they came armed with spitballs."
Armed with lawyers.
I like cruel. Keyes vs. Colmes? Kool!
I had the feeling that you can't really "live" there, in the sense of going on about your life undisturbed. Of course, the wealthy can isolate themselves from the street. For the rest of us, it's a big social experiment where your behavior is constantly tested.
Good luck SF. With Big Brother watching over you, you're gonna need it.
We have Fleet Week every year because, with the Blue Angels air show, it is the second biggest draw to the waterfront. The first is July 4th. The business owners want it. That's why we have Fleet Week in SF.
I know what ROTFLMAO is but what the hell is a SECDEF. I guess you posters think that all of us know what you mean when you put a bunch of the alphabet on the screen.
Secretary of Defense.
YEAH! Someone should do us a favor and blow SF off the map.
I got calls from recruiters when my 2 oldest were seniors in HS. They graduated a year apart.....during Clintons reign of terror. I explained that my sons would not consider serving under that CIC. The recruiters always laughed and said they understood....
Integrity, he got his integrity from his hero RFK. O'Reilly had phone sex with his producer, she obviously taped the conversations. As some over blown out of control celebrity, he thought he had the right to use his employees for phone sex. He did not even pay for the legal mess himself Fox, had to pay for the bill. I do not condone the producer she was probably a whore, but when you need to pay for sex, you pay your own bills. He needs to be a man, have sex like a man, pay his bills like a man.
To green light terrorist attacks and violence shows a lot of hate, not a lot of humanity. It's un-American."
The people of SF just gave the green light to terrorists by limiting self defense.
I happened to catch this particular rant on O'R's radio show last week.
He was on fire and passionately pro military.
Good for him.
We all know that after the next earthquake, San Francisco will be whining for the National Guard.
And of course criticizing them for not being on scene within nano seconds and eye rolling because everyone knows you don't wear black combat boots with greenish brown ensembles.
Especially after Labor Day.
"Coit Tower, a tribute to SF firefighters from the 1906 earthquake, is supposedly in the shape of a fire hose nozzle."
Is that what the gays say? ;-)
I strongly urge San Francisco officials to beware of using the term "predatory" to describe anyone else...
Um Dude he has the highest ratings in cable... get over it pal.
