A Day in the Life of President Bush (photos): 11.11.05

Today the President spoke to a group of Veterans at the Tobyhanna Army Depot in Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania where he discussed the War on Terror and counter the useless lying democrats who have been very busy doing all they can to undermine the War, The President and our National Security. The Former Amphibious Automobile crash test dummy, Ted Kennedy, was quick to release a statement condemning the President for speaking out against them on Veterans Day. White House Press Secretary, Scott McClellan, responded to the fat Drunk from Massachusetts with this statement:
"It is regrettable that Senator Kennedy has chosen Veteran's Day to continue leveling baseless and false attacks that send the wrong signal to our troops and our enemy during a time of war. It is also regrettable that Senator Kennedy has found more time to say negative things about President Bush then he ever did about Saddam Hussein. If America were to follow Senator Kennedy's foreign policy, Saddam Hussein would not only still be in power, he would be oppressing and occupying Kuwait."
Two thumbs up for the President and Scott McClellan

Sorry I suddenly disappeared last night but came over very tired, long, long day. Good day though, managed to sort out bits of dad's finance he wanted to do for a long time, he then bought me a birthday present (new mobile [cell] phone). We visited mum afterwards so by the time got back home and cooked dinner I was pretty whacked.
Dolly regarding poppies in England, we have had a Poppy Day since 1921 there is a link earlier on the thread to the history.
Virtually everyone in Britain contributes to the Royal British Legion Fund by buying a poppy during what is now about 2 week campaign. Finishing with Saturday and Sunday events I mentioned earlier. All the announcers on TV will be wearing them plus sports commentators etc. It is very big event in Britain where virtually everyone buys ones and if you see someone on TV without one you comment about it.
See the Royal British Legion link for further details.
http://www.britishlegion.org.uk/
By the way in case you did not know why poppy; it because the fields in Flanders during world warI looked like a field of poppies from the distance where in fact they were covered with solidiers blood.
The official name for Remembrance/Poppy Day in Britain is actually Armistice Day which is on the 11th day of the 11th month and at the 11th hour we have a 2 minute silence.
Regarding it being a world wide event certainly British and commonwealth military graves worldwide will all have poppy wreaths laid officially on Sunday morning, not sure if other countries do similar with their own graves or if it will only be the Briish ones.

Another comment the significance of the poppy I said blood others have said because it was the only living thing that survived in the fields in France after the great war - see Billie's opening post on the finest and mine later on.
My grand dad however who was in the trenches in World War I and his contemporaries always said it was the blood and how after the war when the poppies came back it looked just like the fields had done with the blood of the soldiers, so I have always believed/supported this view.

Pinging you to a Saturday Dose update.
Sorry this has to be just an update today. I will post a full new thread tomorrow.
My old PC has been giving me fits, and finally today the old monitor just went ka-flooey. After fighting with it for some time, I finally went over to a friend's house just so I could post this update. I'm heading over to Fry's and CompUSA to look at inexpensive new desktops, and plan to buy one this afternoon. Even the cheapest new desktop will be far better than my 7-yr-old machine. I expect to have it up and running in time to do a full Dose tomorrow.
As it turns out, there were only three new photos of the President today, so we won't miss anything with just an update today.

President Bush waves as he leaves the White House for a recreational outing, in Washington, Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005. The president spent the morning on a bicycle ride in suburban Maryland.

This photo was taken yesterday morning as GWB left the White House for Pennsylvania. Don't know if he was waving at the First Lady or the dogs. ;-)

Once again Yahoo pulled out this photo of the POTUS and VPOTUS walking through the bluebonnets on the ranch to accompany a negative caption. As long as Yahoo keeps putting it up, we can keep putting it here to enjoy, completely flipping their negativity on its head.
