WHITE HOUSE: Setting the Record Straight: Sen. Kennedy On Iraq
White House ^ | November 11, 2005

Posted on 11/11/2005 3:07:21 PM PST by West Coast Conservative

"It is regrettable that Senator Kennedy has chosen Veteran's Day to continue leveling baseless and false attacks that send the wrong signal to our troops and our enemy during a time of war. It is also regrettable that Senator Kennedy has found more time to say negative things about President Bush then he ever did about Saddam Hussein. If America were to follow Senator Kennedy's foreign policy, Saddam Hussein would not only still be in power, he would be oppressing and occupying Kuwait."

- Scott McClellan, White House Press Secretary

Sen. Kennedy On Iraq

Sen. Kennedy Said Saddam Hussein Was Developing WMDs: "We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction." (Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA), Remarks At The Johns Hopkins School Of Advanced International Studies, Washington, D.C., 9/27/02)

Sen. Kennedy: "Saddam Hussein Is A Dangerous Figure. He's Got Dangerous Weapons." (CBS' "Face The Nation," 10/6/02)

Sen. Kennedy Now Says The President Manipulated Facts About Iraq's WMDs: "'Instead of providing open and honest answers about how we will achieve success in Iraq and allow our troops to begin to come home,' Kennedy said, 'the president reverted to the same manipulation of facts to justify a war we never should have fought.'" (Deb Riechmann, "Bush Forcefully Attacks Critics Of The War In Iraq," Associated Press, 11/11/05)

Sen. Kennedy Opposed Removing Saddam Hussein From Kuwait. (S.J.Res.2, CQ Vote #2: Adopted 52-47: R 42-2; D 10-45, 1/12/91, Kennedy Voted Nay)

Sen. Kennedy Opposed Removing Saddam Hussein From Power. (H. J. Res. 114, CQ Vote #237: Passed 77-23: R 48- 1; D 29-21; I 0-1, 10/11/02, Kennedy Voted Nay)

Kennedy and Kerry are a reflection on the people of Massachusetts, who keep re-electing these traitors. Let's boycott Massachusetts. Don't go there, don't buy from companies based there.
And the fact that Kennedy and Kerry continue to serve in the U.S. Senate is a refection on the other members of the Senate, who tolerate traitors, The Enemy Within. Kennedy and Kerry are allies of the terrorists.

Sadly IMHO Mr Kennedy is indeed the poster child for the moral conscience of the US Senate.

Speaking of "stuck on stupid", you're apparently unaware that the president did start a smackdown in front of the press yesterday afternoon.

Amazing that you have not realized that we have been attacked. How many have to be killed to determine we are at war?

A few words voted on in Congress do not "make" a war - actions do. The congress is only politically active as shown by their actions - they care not that America is fighting for survival.

Actions make a fight, which we are certainly in; but it takes an act of Congress to make a war and they have not acted. War is a legal condition, not a physical one.

But staging a scene to make a cross out of stones on the beach at Normandy for a photo-op is in good taste.

Yeah, right.

IMHO, it is the perfect time to address these issues. I cannot speak for Veterans or those in active service, but not to address these issues on Veterans day would have been an insult.

The Commander in Chief told Veterans and the Nation he did not send troops into battle on a lie. Plain and simple.

I thought he went to UVa (barf-o-rama) 'cause he couldn't get into Harvard.

He's not too bright
He cheated in college
He walked away from a drowning woman, yet made some type of Olympic swim across a channel rather than risk his political butt. He was in shock. Yeah, shock, that's the ticket!

Yet, he is considered the respected leader of the dems.

Worse, those who worship the beached whale have no idea what hypocrites they are.

interesting, cindy sheehan was blasted for hijacking her sons death in iraq and using it as a rallying point for the anti-war movement. bush hijacks veterans day to take partisan pot-shots and he's a hero?

veterans day was not the time or place mr president. i wish he would be more tactful than that.

I don't know if you noticed, but there really isn't anything interesting about Cindy Sheehan. She over stayed her welcome long ago.

As far as Bush speaking on Veteran's Day, he was invited, he is the Commander in Chief, he received resounding applause by his audience and he enjoys a 60% approval rating among veterans. Big contrast between the president and Cindy Sheehan. It was PERFECT!

Those jerks in your party denigrate and insult our military every single day of the year with their venomous invective.

Veterans day was exactly the right time to finally speak out about it you twit!

I thank your father for his service.

I've got a veteran or two in my family also, and they loved it. They didn't feel used, disrespected or that it was "partisan bs".

I agree. President Bush's speech was a pro-military, pro-America speech, responding to Democrat anti-American attacks during a time of war.

This is exactly what I was waiting to hear addressed to Senator Kerry during the 2004 campaign...to the best of my knowledge it never was.

The entire Democrat apparatus is like a rickety old barn just waiting to be kicked over by the bold expression of the truth...if we had followed their foreign policy Saddam would not only still be in Kuwait; he would have rolled over Saudi Arabia by now.

"insult our military every single day of the year with their venomous invective."

I've heard through the grapevine that their next plan of attack is to try and cut off funding to the military to force a withdrawal from the ME. Haven't been able to find anything to verify that yet, but it sounds like something the weasels would do.
