John Kerry Responds to George Bush's Veterans Day Political Attacks

John Kerry issued the following statement from Boston, where earlier today he participated in a Veterans Day tribute to America's veterans and active duty armed forces.

"I wish President Bush knew better than to dishonor America's veterans by playing the politics of fear and smear on Veterans Day. Instead of trying to salvage his slumping political fortunes, the Commander in Chief should honor our men and women in uniform with a clear strategy for success in Iraq. But this Administration abandoned that path long ago, and our troops have paid the price for it.

"This administration misled a nation into war by cherry-picking intelligence and stretching the truth beyond recognition. That's why Scooter Libby has been indicted. That's why a statement in the State of the Union Address was retracted. It's a dangerous day for our national security when an Administration's word is no good. Today they continue the same games hoping Americans forget the mess they made in Iraq that's cost over 2,000 Americans their lives and their failure to find Osama bin Laden. Americans will not forget, and neither will those of us who defend our country by asking tough questions and demanding a new course in Iraq."

KENNEDY REACTION TO BUSH IRAQ SPEECH

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Laura Capps/Melissa Wagoner (202) 224-2633

Today is a day when above all we honor the heroism, the sacrifice, and the bravery of our men and women in uniform. We pay tribute to those whose dedication to this nation has taken them far away from their loved ones, and those whose past service has made this country what it is today.

It's deeply regrettable that the President is using Veterans Day as a campaign-like attempt to rebuild his own credibility by tearing down those who seek the truth about the clear manipulation of intelligence in the run up to the Iraq War. Instead of providing open and honest answers about how we will achieve success in Iraq and allow our troops to begin to come home, the President reverted to the same manipulation of facts to justify a war we never should have fought. Each day, the American people learn more and more about the truth. It's time for the President to restore the trust of the American people in their leaders by coming clean about the war and leading us to a place where we can better protect our citizens and restore our leadership in the world. But, today's speech didn't do that. It only further tarnished this White House and further damaged his presidency.

What would Kerry or Kennedy know about HONOR??? One's a gigolo and the other a murderer, and our troops loath both of them.

The Dems say Bush is stupid. Then they say that Bush fooled them on Iraq. How stupid does that make them?

It's all a big lie. The Dems said exactly the same thing about Saddam and WMDs that the Bush Administration did. The CIA Director was appointed by Bill Clinton. The Dems should stop trying to rewrite history. If Bush was fooled, so were they.

Kerry, the Vietnam Hero who earned 3 (count 'em, 3) purple hearts and never spent a day in the hospital.

Compare his merits to the brave men who are fighting and who have fought in Mosel, Falluja, Baghdad and other places in Iraq...

Kerry is just despicable!

Instead of trying to salvage his slumping political fortunes, the Commander in Chief should honor our men and women in uniform with a clear strategy for success in Iraq.

Let's not forget that Bush's "slumping political fortunes" are still much higher than Kerry's, or Kennedy's or the Democratic party's "political fortunes".

So Bush doesn't need their disingenuous "advice".

I can't believe these political twits have even one-ounce of commonsense between them.

They embarrass the memories of my comrades and my country!

Mr President, you are right, sir! Don't let these cheese eating RATS deter you from the goal. Winning is everything, and we must KILL all the terrorists. Kill and wipe out anything and everything they associate with. It must be done!

Rob them of their families and their lineage. Erase them from the terrorist's world.

As for Kerry and Kennedy...send them on a fact finding tour to Iraq -- no guards (we are sending them home ya know). embedded senators...sounds wonderful!!!

It is time to rip out their back stabbing knives and use those knives to gut them everytime they attack our president.

re: Kerry's quote. I'm almost speechless that one man could continue to be so wrong so often.

Kerry should go help out his allies, the French. He seems to think their country is some sort of paradigm.

Did Kerry fry his brain on drugs, or is he just naturally really stupid? Something is wrong with this dude, and like Al Gore, I think he's getting ready for a visit to the rubber room, or maybe he should take some of that stuff Ted Turner takes for his brain farts!

"CNN is double-bush-slapping Bush right now"

Sounds like desperation time at CNN. Last I heard, Bush is President through 2008. The Dems at CNN won't get him.

Every time kerry, kennedy, polousy, reid or any of them stand up and bash the Pres. with cheap shots, lies and petty BS, one two of our gop senators or congress people should immediately call a press conference and call them on it. They want our money, efforts and votes but when it comes to fighting for what we want, they run for cover like cockroaches fleeing a light.

They let the opposition roast the Pres. daily with out any response and than they fret about dropping polls. Enough already. Get up off your cowardly asses and fight back or vacate your seat and let us have someone that will.

Kweery said "I wish President Bush knew better than to dishonor American veterans by playing the politics of fear and smear on Veterans Day."

John Kweery testifying before the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations April 22, 1971. "American soldiers had at times personally rape, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Ghengis Kahn, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the country side of South Vietnam."

Kweery dishonored American soldiers by playing politics of fear and SMEAR. Go straight to hell Kweery!!!!

It's too bad for Kerry that the vast majority of veterans in the country cheered today when they heard the President's speech.
