John Kerry Responds to George Bush's Veterans Day Political Attacks

John Kerry issued the following statement from Boston, where earlier today he participated in a Veterans Day tribute to America's veterans and active duty armed forces.

"I wish President Bush knew better than to dishonor America's veterans by playing the politics of fear and smear on Veterans Day. Instead of trying to salvage his slumping political fortunes, the Commander in Chief should honor our men and women in uniform with a clear strategy for success in Iraq. But this Administration abandoned that path long ago, and our troops have paid the price for it.

"This administration misled a nation into war by cherry-picking intelligence and stretching the truth beyond recognition. That's why Scooter Libby has been indicted. That's why a statement in the State of the Union Address was retracted. It's a dangerous day for our national security when an Administration's word is no good. Today they continue the same games hoping Americans forget the mess they made in Iraq that's cost over 2,000 Americans their lives and their failure to find Osama bin Laden. Americans will not forget, and neither will those of us who defend our country by asking tough questions and demanding a new course in Iraq."

KENNEDY REACTION TO BUSH IRAQ SPEECH

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Laura Capps/Melissa Wagoner (202) 224-2633

Today is a day when above all we honor the heroism, the sacrifice, and the bravery of our men and women in uniform. We pay tribute to those whose dedication to this nation has taken them far away from their loved ones, and those whose past service has made this country what it is today.

It's deeply regrettable that the President is using Veterans Day as a campaign-like attempt to rebuild his own credibility by tearing down those who seek the truth about the clear manipulation of intelligence in the run up to the Iraq War. Instead of providing open and honest answers about how we will achieve success in Iraq and allow our troops to begin to come home, the President reverted to the same manipulation of facts to justify a war we never should have fought. Each day, the American people learn more and more about the truth. It's time for the President to restore the trust of the American people in their leaders by coming clean about the war and leading us to a place where we can better protect our citizens and restore our leadership in the world. But, today's speech didn't do that. It only further tarnished this White House and further damaged his presidency.

Isn't it interesting that the democrats deride the President
for "Politicizing" Veteran's Day, then proceed to attack the administration, while paying only lipservice to the Veterans, in effect POLITICIZING Veteran's Day!.

Democrats! A pox upon them!

Given JFK,The Lesser's comments today, and this being Veterans Day, I, for one, would like to take this opportunity to thank those brave men and women who kept this pompass ass from becoming the Commander-In-Chief.

Mr.John O'Neill, you, along with Swiftboat Vets and POW's deserve our heartfelt respect and appreciation.

May we never forget!

So the Democrats smear Bush by saying how dare he smear them (i.e., "quote them accurately") on Veterans' Day?!

That's funny, last time I looked, it was still Veteran's Day. Didn't seem to stop them from running to the microphones and fax machines to pump out propaganda. But I've always had the feeling they'd trample their own mothers on Veterans' Day if it got them any political advantage whatsoever.

It's deeply regrettable that this POS was a hairbreadth away from being the Commander in Chief of this nation in a time of war.

It's deeply regrettable that this POS helped scores of American soldiers end up on the wall of the Vietnam Memorial.

It's deeply regrettable that this POS is paid by the American taxpayer to be a traitor.

It's deeply regrettable that, if the intelligence was manipulated, he is complicit in the deaths of over 2,000 American soldiers, and the wounding of many others.

It's deeply regrettable that this POS voted for what he called "the wrong war at the wrong place at the wrong time", if it really was the wrong place/wrong war/wrong time.

It's deeply regrettable that this POS and those in his party choose to refight a campaign that he lost, and not taking his own counsel that he offered to the winning President (about not dividing the country).

It's deeply regrettable that I have to mention how deeply regrettable John Kerry is.

Nothing for me to say except.. IT'S TYPICAL DEM CRAP.

Yeah, but it's worked every time they've tried it so far. I suspect that even as we speak, RINOs everywhere are panicking and the President is being asked to retreat from his divisive statements... and God knows, he's done it before....

CNN is double-bush-slapping Bush right now, with graphics of the Capitol dome shattering into pieces, and comments like 'President is in free fall', 'GOP falling apart', 'Republicans running away' etc. Lou Dobbs is practically confirming the time of death.

I wish President Bush knew better than to dishonor America's veterans by playing the politics of fear and smear on Veterans Day.

Like testifying in front of a committee, intoning on and on and on about Genghis Khan? Like throwing someone else's ribbons/medals/whatever over the White House fence? That's the "politics of fear and smear" you jabbering about, Johnny-boy?

Instead of trying to salvage his slumping political fortunes, the Commander in Chief should honor our men and women in uniform with a clear strategy for success in Iraq.

Just like you, Johnny, to see everything in a mulifaceted prism. To you, every argument or conflict has to have 16 thousand friggin' sides to it. Everything to you Johnny is: be for it then against it, or against it then for it. But there is a very clear strategy for success in Iraq. Kill all the murderous scumbags possible, while slowly turning the country over to the Iraqis. Duh. Even a simpleton like myself can see that; why can't a snotty, effiminate wimp of a Frenchman like yourself see down to my level? You twit.

But this Administration abandoned that path long ago, and our troops have paid the price for it.

Abandoned what path? You're such a pompous windbag. And our troops who pay the Ultimate Price do so while fighting a cowardly bunch of thugs who prey on innocent, unarmed civilians who can't shoot back. Our troops know what they're doing fighting this terrible scourge. Too bad you never learned the lesson in Vietnam.

This administration misled a nation into war by cherry-picking intelligence and stretching the truth beyond recognition. That's why Scooter Libby has been indicted.

So by your logic, it's better under Clinton where you blowdried blowhards rattle your sabers everytime there's an intern or other sex scandal in the news. But don't actually act on plausible intelligence; after all, us commoners are expendable as long as you elites get to go to your Euro-trash Elite parties, right? And the only reason that Scooter Libby was indicted was that Prosecutor Fitzgerald left out several key witness statements that would have exonerated Libby from a grand jury indictment.

That's why a statement in the State of the Union Address was retracted. It's a dangerous day for our national security when an Administration's word is no good.

If there ever was an administration whose word was no good, it was your Golden-Calf God Clinton's. Thank God that Bush is actually doing something about this threat and won't let popularity polls guide decisions on national security.

Today they continue the same games hoping Americans forget the mess they made in Iraq that's cost over 2,000 Americans their lives and their failure to find Osama bin Laden.

What is it with you nitwit twit Liberals and your pathological obsession over bin Laden? We haven't heard from the fruitcake in months. He's possibly worm-food underneath all that quake rubble. Zarqawi is more the immediate problem. Capturing or killing bin Laden won't end the Muslim's War on the West. I guess that your approach would to devote ALL resources to finding someone that may be dead already. And if there happens to be a clearly tangible military threat developing in Iran, you'll just mouth off some empty speech about how it's more important to find bin Laden. You idiot.

Americans will not forget, and neither will those of us who defend our country by asking tough questions and demanding a new course in Iraq.

I'm trusting that most legal citizens of America will not forget your DIS-service to our country, both past & present. And trust me: I'm not in the military, but the military men & women don't like you, they don't trust you, and they certainly wouldn't serve willingly for you. But I speak for myself when I clearly state:

STFU!

What better way to honor us veterans than to declare war on our enemies, the liberal Democrat leftists.

Bravo, Mr. President! Keep it up!
