I saw her on O'reilly and realized she really is crazy. Too bad O'reilly didn't have the stones to tell her so.
Mary Mapes: The key is that they APPEAR to have been created in Word. That is a parlor trick that doesn't bear close scrutiny. We are preparing two things on the website truthandduty.com which will illustrate this fallacy. One is a comparision between the memos' font and Times New Roman, which was used to supposedly recreate the Word version of the memos. The other bit of evidence is a new exhaustive analysis that shows through wer on the letters that these memos were typed not laser printed.
I saw her on FoxNews 2X yesterday. She sure is a smooth talker.
Somebody check out the Kinko's in Austin.
I heard this woman on local talk radio WRKO earlier today, the woman is clueless and is still insisting she didn't do anything wrong, unfreakinbelievable and she defended blather's actions as well, she can't understand what the big deal is about, no one has proven the documents are not authentic so she is convinced they are authentic and cannot see past her nose on this.
Her vile ideology won't allow it.
I listened to this deranged liberal fool --- some sound bites of her reasoning behind the forged documents -- her pitch was that the documents had to be REAL because nobody proved to her satisfaction they were not!!! So therefore, anyone can provide forged anythings, and they are valid as long a nobody can prove they are not.
This is a CLASSIC EXAMPLE OF THE LIBERAL MENTAL DISEASE!! Twisting and spinning reality into falsehood, and vice versa...totally sick.
Why would ANYONE expect Mary Mapes to respect the truth and tell the truth? That is ludicrous.
Why would ANYONE make that a priori assumption about Mary Mapes? The opposite assumption should be made.

"Burlington, Vt.: Do you feel that the mainstream media will be held to a higher standard of evidence in the future due to the prominence of Web logs such as the ones that exposed the documents as forgeries?
Mary Mapes: I think the internet is a fabulaous gift to all of us in building transparency in the mainstream media. It is also a tool for bullying political partisans to club peopleover the head because they pereive bias. Some of the people who attacked me and CBS acted, sadly, like 14 year old boys who had broken into their parents' liquor cabinet. Angry and drunk with power. That is unfair, unproductive and un-American."
I guess she is talking about Free Republic?? This woman is a total loon!!
Buckhead, USA (me) has asked a question. Let's see if Ms. Mapes answers...
This nit wit's timing could not be better. It will remind people that they have fallen for lots and lots of ratmedia and evil donkey lies.
Someone should have asked her which of the following are torture vs. fraternity prank:
1) Panties on head
2) Decapitation
3) Naked human pyramid
I just waiting for these dummy to create a proper fake using a correct vintage typewriter for the TANG 68/70 time frame and then present it as there final proof... sooner or later they will...the problem being look how far they have gotten with these terribly bad amateur forgeries...what happen went they do a better forge job and are so obvious?
All Ms Mapes has to do is call Bill Burkett and have him get hold of the person who knows the person who knows the person who knows the person who has the original document...and get the original....and....ta da....problem solved....

Bill Burkett's been busy.
The other bit of evidence is a new exhaustive analysis that shows through wer [sic] on the letters that therse memos were types [sic] not laser printed.
The "wer" on the letters is exactly the sort of thing (resolution reduction turning smooth lines choppy, random speckling) that would be expected from several generations of faxing and copying.
Proportional spacing was developed int eh 1940s and fine tuned in the 50s. The Texas National Guard had many machines capable of it in 1972.
In a regular duty officer's office? In a state of user-friendly development that someone would use it for a memo that didn't need to be prettily formatted?
I do still talk to him [Dan Rather]. I consider him a friend. I think his resigning woould [sic] be a loss for reporting in this country at a time when we need good reporters.
Huh? I thought Dan Rather's decision to resign is past history, water under the bridge (as Ted Kennedy would say), not something he is still contemplating.
Bellaire, Tex.: The scientific method requires that one formulate a hypothesis and then attempt to prove that hypothesis false. If unable to do so, it is taken as truth. Do you feel the scientific method is applicable to investigative journalism? If not, why?
Mary Mapes: That's an interesting concept. I have never thought of investigative reportng in that way.
Obviously not.
Criticism is all American. Anonymous name calling is not.
So, if you do get back into journalism, you are going to foreswear the use of anonymous sources who say unkind things about the subject of your story?
Other than trying to sell a book, I don't understand the point. This is not an impeachable offense. But even if the Dims could provide enough deception to make it seem so, what could they do?
President Bush has been re-elected, and currently has a Republican majority in both chambers. Even if the Dims managed majority in both chambers in 2006, I doubt there were be enough pressure to take on the long impeachment hearings, with only two years left in his administration.
Would the Dims really want to do that? The result could manage to put the 2008 GOP nominee in the WH for a year or so. There are a couple or three ways that could be accomplished, if the Republicans wanted to go there.
Bitter little leftist liar. SMILE!
Mapes took a "buckhead" ass whippin as soon as these phony documents were released and has never recovered.
