Does Bill O'Reilly have it in for the city by the bay?
San Franciscans have been in an uproar this week over apparent comments by the host of Fox News' "The O'Reilly Factor" that it was A-OK for terrorists to wipe the city off the map.
At issue are comments from O'Reilly's Election Day broadcast on his syndicated Westwood One radio show about a San Francisco ballot measure opposing the presence of military recruiters in city schools.

Let me beg to differ ... I am as conservative as anyone on Free Republic ... but 55 years ago, SF was not filled with looneys, gays, anti-gun nuts, and fruitcakes. It was a normal, beautiful city. It only transformed in the 1960s, once living in California became cool.
I am only 48 years old but I know people born and raised in SF who are my age and older, and they know what the city's character used to be like.
Well, there are military assets in the city. They won't strike at the streetwalkers.
I live in the metro and another thing I'll say is, SF is the nicest place ever to be taken over by rotten Communists, freaks and leftist goons. If this place were peopled and run by normal Americans, it would return immediately to it's true former glory.
Love the City.....hate the Politics! But, I figure I was here first when sane people were in the majority. Hoping to see that sanity return, and working for it. May not live to see it, but have faith it will happen!
You nailed it my friend. Sad but true!
Thank you!! Glad to see reinforcements have arrived!!
RE: San Francisco has alot of people in it
Indeed if you count up this metro the way it should be counted (e.g. based on a combination of the media market and where people work and live) instead of breaking it artificially into 3 SMAs the way the Fed Gov does - in other words, combine SF, Oakland and SJ and surrounding suburbs - we are nearly 8 million in number. And as for wealth, in spite of being taxed like Norwegians (well, maybe not that bad, but you get the point) we still have some serious loot. This place is well worth taking back!
Yep! It is!
Anyone who lives here for more than 6 months and does not turn into a conservative (if not one already) is truly lost.
RE: NY may be liberal but at least it has some pretense of decency.
Leftism here in SF is darker. It is a freakish leftism.
Gotta love the MSDNC. They can't win in the ratings so they are trying to play the outrage "oh my gosh he said that" petty game with their pathetic Air America loving, Nation magazine reading, Michael Moore worshiping, Chris Matthews watching Lib audience. Of course MSDNC, the network that rivals CNN in Blaming America First, is probably the official station of the San Francisco Democrats.
Sounds good to me! : )
Yeah! More reinforcements!!
Uh oh!! It's too beautiful a city, maybe some germ warfare instead?
Have we met? LOL .... :-)
If San Fran is attacked tomorrow I think we should all just look the other way.
No Way terrorist would attack SF! Oh, wait a minute, homos get the death penalty.
LOL! San Francisco Native (yes, we do exist!) I've been battling on 2 threads and am delighted to have reinforcements!! Are you a San Franciscan too? Nice meeting you!!
But the lesson here is that things can and will change. Meaning, someday, SF can become a normal place again. It might take an earthquake and the ruination of California's economy, but it might happen. Here are some examples of total political transformation in my lifetime:
* Once the South was solidly Democratic. I expect most Democrats thought it would be forever.
* New Jersey and Vermont were once solid, and I mean, solid, Republican states. Look at them now. Couldn't elect a Republican dogcatcher.
* Remember when Los Angeles was considered a right-wing bastion? That was as recently as 1980.
* Remember when Hollywood producers used to screen their films before three men of the cloth -- one Catholic, one Christian, and one Jewish? That "quaint" (in my mind, essential) practice ended after 1970, I think.
Now for some international versions:
* The Dutch were Europe's most devout nation, and most strongly committed to evangelism, in the years immediately after WWII. Today's hedonism in the Netherlands is almost abominable.
* The average Italian family used to be 6 children, as recently as 1960. Now Italy has the lowest birthrate in Europe, 1.1 I think. And I DO consider birthrates a political issue, one created by the left.
* Swedes used to immigrate to America for religious freedom. Today, I doubt that any Swedes could spell Christian, and the only time "God" or "Jesus" are spoken it is in the context of a swear word.
I could go on for hours. But I think you get my point.
Right on all counts!! As I said, I may not live to see it, but I have faith that San Francisco will once again be the proud city she was!
There's too many germs there, already; any other suggestions? : )
