Al-Dhuri died on Armistice Day 2005 just as Arafat died on Armistice Day 2004 (November 11)...both the likely victims of covert ops.
Nice shooting, gentlemen.
Pause
Al-Dhuri was perhaps the one general for Hussein most-schooled in warfare, and there is little doubt that he was a factor in the insurgency in Kirkuk and the Anbar provice.
His death, if confirmed, will improve our lot in Western Iraq.

"His death, if confirmed, will improve our lot in Western Iraq."
And within the whole Saddamist support part of the insurgency. It is hard to believe he has not been the key money man as has been so widely reported. Heaven knows how many of those truck convoys going to Syria contained bundles of money for later use.
"Isn't this a very big deal?"
Surely it is if true. Based on above statement as well as his sworn allegience to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi last year, to supply him with financial and other assistance.
Of course, he was one of heaven only knows how many that are in the network. With him gone, it does not mean that things will not continue as usual. He must have had a large cadre of hard core military/intel folks working with him.
