Islamist lawyer: Ireland could be targeted

An Islamic fundamentalist lawyer has said Ireland is a "legitimate" target for a terrorist attack.

Anjem Choudary, speaking at a debate Thursday at Dublin's Trinity College, claimed Ireland was open to attack because of the government's decision to allow U.S. troops to refuel at Shannon Airport, the Irish Independent reported Friday.

"If you are going to allow your country to be used to refuel a U.S. plane which is going on a bombing raid, what do you expect our reaction to be? This is not neutrality," he said.

"A U.S. pilot is no different from the Irish person who allows the plane to land. They are collaborators," said Choudary, who is under police surveillance in Britain.

Another Muslim extremist, Umran Javed, told the debate that although he did not see an attack on Ireland as likely, retaliation would come "swiftly" if Ireland increased its support for the United States.

The comments came only hours after the head of Scotland Yard, Sir Ian Blair, warned that Dublin is as much at risk of a major terrorist attack as other large cities. Senior Irish police are studying Choudary's remarks to determine if they represent an incitement to hatred.

Great. So by the same token, Iran is toast? Plus every mosque where hate Islam is preached?

Ah, finally, a fair to good reason to re-unify Ireland.

Is that a threat? Sounds like some preemptive action should be taken.

I agree. It's just a matter of time. Keep your powder dry. The Sh@t is going to hit the fan and it won't be as far off as you think.

By his own admission, we are at war with Islam and a bomber pilot is the same enemy to them as a fuel attendant. NOW can we come out of the war closet? The person that taught them the Koran is the same as the man that makes an IED or straps on a bomb, we must target them all. This war is a religious war, Christians and Jews against Muslims. They want to conquer ALL of the world. Either we answer the call or lose. They have already chased nearly all of Christianity out of Africa and the ME and see this as the time to strike. Building a democracy in Iraq will no deter them, they must be annihilated and sent back to the middle ages once again.

A "lawyer" expounding in the language of an active participant in a real shooting war?
Enemy agents are allowed in Ireland too?

I have a flash for this clown. The Irish are the most "politically incorrect" people on the planet. In the words of one Irishperson in the last few days, "we don't put up with that sh** here", when discussing the attempt to build a mosque in a town not too far from Belfast. The sandmaggots silently disappeared after a couple of years.

County Cork is in my genes. I'd sure like to see my kin come back together and show us how THEY take care of insurgents.

I get the strange feeling that Ireland, if it limites immigration, will become the last bastion of Western Civilization in Europe along with, perhaps, Poland.

That's when we'll find out if the IRA really gave up ALL their guns.

Sounds fair - If somebody was fueling our enemy's aircraft, we would feel justified in bombing their airfields, right?

Of course, there is a massive difference between "legal target" and "ability to strike target." I would keep a sharp eye out, but otherwise not worry too much...

I'm beginning to think that any non-Islamic country is a "legitimate" target for terrorist attack...

Ireland was the last bastion of Western Civilization during the Dark Ages. Looks like the Ould Sod may be called upon again.

Except, it's not the airfields they'll be bombing. It's the commercial aircraft, buses, subways, cafes, hotels, etc.
