Can Sean Hannity, G. Gordon Liddy and Oliver North -- all endowed with biomechanical powers -- save America from the "Orwellian nightmare of ultra-leftist oppression"?
That's a key question in Liberality for All, a book created by Lexingtonian Mike Mackey, who bills it as the first conservative comic.
In the fictional word of Liberality for All, it's the year 2021, two decades after 9/11 and the election of President Al Gore. Filmmaker Michael Moore is the new vice president, and America has slid into a liberal establishment gone horribly bad. Fleeing the Federal Communications Commission, Hannity, Liddy and North are rebels on the run.
In online discussions, and there are plenty, those whose polical views lean left see the comic as a camp classic so hilarious it must be a joke. Those who lean right see it as a satirical exaggeration of liberal truth. Liberal or conservative, Mackey will take their $2.99.
Mackey said that, as creator of Liberality for All, he's received two death threats.
In an industry where 5,000 copies sold is a respectable showing, the first issue of the book has sold 6,000 copies since it was released last month. After being featured on Fox News' Hannity & Colmes last week, Mackey's Web site, www.accstudios.com, got a hit every five seconds.
David Tackett, a manager of A+ Comics & Collectibles on Southland Drive, said nine of 10 copies of the first issue of Liberality for All sold in a week. "For some reason this one has gotten a lot of publicity," said Tackett. "I haven't exactly figured out why."
Mackey thinks people are simply ready for something different. A long-time comic fan who once organized a local Star Trek convention, he is a first-time comic book publisher, putting up the $5,000 fee himself.
Mackey's inspiration came from a bumper sticker proclaiming "John Kerry for a Stronger America." After that, he began ruminating on the Democratic candidate's comments about fighting a more sensitive war on terrorism. What, Mackey wondered, would that look like? Thus, Liberality for All took form.
Working with an Indonesian artist, Mackey has planned an eight-part series that pits conservative icons against a liberal hierarchy. The second installment is due in December.
Like his right-wing superheroes, Mackey likes to keep some things to himself. He's vague on what part of Kentucky he hails from, where he went to school and the definition of his day job (something to do with collectibles).
And while Mackey calls himself the "nicest neocon you'll ever meet," he laughs when reminded of one of his press releases that proclaimed "we are going to the mat harder than Ted Kennedy after a 2-for-1 happy hour."
His favorite page in the book shows a panel of United Nations dignitaries, including "Secretary General Jacques Chirac," grinning in approval at the representative from Afghanistan, "Usama bin Laden." "I've offended four countries right there," he said with a smile.
Liberality, after all, is primarily good fun, he says. The world would never embrace such extremes.
Or would it?
"The debate rages on," Mackey says.
Unnngh.
Hannity's powers:
ABLE TO SHILL A BOOK AND A STEAKHOUSE IN A SINGLE BOUND!
I've read part of this - it's interesting, and I think Freepers would enjoy it. Though - note to the comic's creator - you have GOT TO HAVE Anne Coulter appearing as a beautiful cyborg assassin. Trust me: there is a market for this.
Heh. Ann's the one to crush the liberal clowns...:)

President Bush is having the devil of a time holding the Republic steady in this storm as the MSM, the Democratic Socialists of America, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi elected Socialists, not elected as Democrats but elected as Socialists, the liberal Ted Kennedy etc. thwart him at every turn with mendacious accusations; this is Americas war on Liberty and Justice.
God bless our President for being an American worthy of the United States Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and the respect of American Citizens as well as the respect from many other countries struggling with their own tyrannies in order to have freedom, liberty and justice it is they that see what this President is and it is they as well as we who do not want the oppression of Socialism/Marxism we want Liberty in every sense of the word.

I thought Hillary was to old to still have her period!

:)
Set in 2021....how old would Liddy be by then? Even Hannity and North would be in their sixties....the biomechanical powers must be motorized scooters and bionic hip replacements.
I'm pretty sure being a super hero would be hard at retirement age....or well into your 70's-80's in Liddy's case
Dagwood's been around for 50 years or more, don't forget this is the "comics". He still looks pretty good. Comics are not real, like movies. (in case you didn't know)
IT DOESN'T MATTER how old the G-Man gets. The secret compartment of his ring he fills with a Nature's Youth vitamin energy pill.

I'm glad to see Larry Elmore involved. I've always liked his work.

I'm certain those death threats were expressions of the usual Lib sense of humor...
