The latest Rasmussen Reports survey shows that Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum is continuing to lose ground in his battle for re-election. Santorum trails Democrat Bob Casey, Jr by twenty percentage points, 54% to 34%.
In a word? Philadelphia!
>>And then there were 54.<<
And DeWine will make it 53.
Same problem as in California, we need to replace the population.
Bush couldn't beat an unpopular Kerry in 04 when Bush won the national vote by 2.5 percent and lose PA by 3 percent.
Now Santorum is going up against a popular candidate in Casey. Casey could take the next year off and still win. Casey will vote the liberal line in the senate too. Remember Harry Reid is pro life too. If I were on Santorum's staff I would be sending out resumes. Santorum shouldn't have even run he will only be humiliated and give the DU crowd something to cheer about. Santorum might even kick out Fitzpatrick. If Santorum wasn't in the race there would be a lot less dem turnout.
It's a bit early to throw in the towel. Still, this will be a tough battle.
Part usual cyclical rise and fall of support this far out, part excessive negative media coverage, part the nature of polling, but mostly his own stupid statements (such as during hurricane season trying to restrict public access to Nat'l Weather Service data.) Much of the damage is self-inflicted, but relatively little has to do with him supporting Specter (that's primarily conservo-utopian blathering that wouldn't move the polls much.)
Yes stunning that some are beleiving a poll, a year out before the election.
BTW, since you are so confident in this poll, could you give me a stock tip that in a year from now will give me $10 million dollars.
Since you are so confident in your soothsaying.
Maybe an affair would help his chances. That's the ticket.
Casey has his name, that's it. He's a blank slate. Santorum better get on the ball defining him.. because Casey is just sitting back and letting daddy's name, and an occassional pot shot carry him.
Didn't Santorum go a little batty on his book tour and make some pretty crazy statements?
Bush is driving conservatives away from politics. It's that simple. Immigration, big time gifts to pharmaceutical companies, big time gift to education, and he doesn't give a rat's ass about illegal immigration. And he can't call the adherents of he religion of Peace for what they are, cutthroats.
Whoa! I think I get it now, Shermy. Thanks for the info. Hmmmmmmmmmm.......
Not unless Casey gets indicted for something. Santorum would do us all a big favor at this point by retiring. He obviously does not have the support of the PA GOP base, and can't win.
He supported Specter over Toomey last year; there's still a lot of conservatives who remember that.
I don't live there so please correct me if I'm wrong.
See post 34.
Maybe the Dems will get a clue here....topple the GOP majority by nominating pro-life Democrats.
LOL! And those "true conservatives" are going into the arms of dean and pelosi.
The blind leading the blind, or the blowhards leading the blowhards.
I see Freepers say that Casey is pro-life. Personally, I think that is ridiculous. There is only one thing that a Senator can do to be pro-life, and that is vote for conservative Supreme Court justices, and against liberal ones, and Casey is not going to do that.
Hi Phantom...Please read post #18. I didn't know this. It is kind of weird.
