Last notice today...
WBC to protest in Greeley, CO tomorrow before Army Pfc. Tyler MacKenzie's funeral. Please pass along this information to those who may be able to help shield family and friends from their message of hatred...

Somebody please explain to me why Phelps is doing this. He is the anti-gay guy, isn't he? What interest does he have in military funerals?

When I first saw the tease I saw the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, it threw me, but the funeral is an LDS funeral and another group is planning to protest his funeral.

This is SO WRONG .. please I do not know what we can do but know my prayer's are out there for this family and their patriotic soldier who gave all for this country.

Perhaps this has already been discussed, but just in case - has anyone ever looked at where this jerk gets his money to do all this traveling? Is he independently wealthy, or is there a "soros" behind the scenes?

Anybody know?

”HOWEVER, THIS GROUP DOES EMPLOY PASSIVE-AGGRESSIVE TECHNIQUES INTENDED TO PROVOKE A HOSTILE RESPONSE OR OFFENSIVE REACTION FROM OTHERS. THEY WILL EMPLOY WRITTEN AND VERBAL INFLAMMATORY LANGUAGE AGAINST THE DECEASED PERSON, THEIR FAMILY, AND MILITARY PERSONNEL TO ELICIT DESIRED RESPONSES. THIS GROUP WILL THEN FILE A CIVIL ACTION IN AN EFFORT TO REACH A SETTLEMENT IN ORDER TO FUND FUTURE ACTIVITIES.”

Folks, there was a 1940’s case – Chaplinsky v. New Hampshire where the SCOTUS ruled that certain speech under certain conditions can be considered "fighting words," and that the person engaging in such speech can be punished if their utterances inflict injury or tend to incite an immediate breach of the peace.

If that doesn’t apply here, I don’t know what does. Now, be advised that in the interim, the courts haven’t favored the “fighting words’ doctrine but maybe as SCOTUS takes on a slightly different character and make-up, this might resurrect it. Maybe a test case is in order.

Thank heaven. I have been praying for a picket around the funerals of our heroes so their families are not further pained by the protestors who have invaded their grief.

The title line makes it sound as though they plan to protest that he have a funeral.

Have you called in the bikers??? My impression of LDS is that they might not really like that, but at least the family won't be able to hear Phelps Welps yelp.

Phelps is a deranged bastard. His kids are nuts, and why can we not get an injunction against him desecrating funerals??

Good Grief! I had no idea that it was possible in any way for any kind of Baptist to also be a liberal! The Baptists I knew up with were very, very conservative.

Baptists or whatever these scum are calling themselves are the lowest of all the bottom feeders! This is wrong, wrong, wrong on every level!

These "people" protested this week in Edmond, Oklahoma, at the funeral of a soldier killed in Iraq. The next day the local newspaper, The Daily Oklahoman, had an article on its front page about the funeral, the number of people attending it, the honors paid to this soldier, the ordinary people lining the streets from the church to the cemetery to pay their respects. Nowhere in the article was any mention of the protesters. That was written about in a separate article several pages back. The protest was covered, not censored, but not in the same article. The paper would not pollute its coverage and respect for this fallen soldier by including in the same article any mention of these hateful protesters.

This needs to be taken to the police department in your area also. These nutjobs were headed towards Montana and the police were given a heads up and helped stop the protest.

These jerks make me sick. Not only are they protesting a hero's funeral but they're doing it on the day we honor our heroes. Disgusting. Wish I could be there to help.
