Mary Mapes Names Names ("Anonymous" Ones)
Posted by Bill
An excerpt from page 201 of her new book:
Within minutes of Buckhead's original posting, Freepers began to repeat and embellish Buckhead's thoughts. Not surprisingly, they all agreed with him, they all agreed with one another, and they all agreed this should be pursued aggressively. Freethinkers they are not. The Freepers and their lockstep like-minded fellow travelers moved as a group, like a school of sharks sweeping toward an unaware and unarmed victim. CBS was like some sunburned, overweight Florida tourist with a cut foot, floundering and flapping in the water alone in the surf. The Freepers swarmed CBS not because it was right or fair but because they could. On Web sites such as Powerline, INDC Journal, Allahpundit, and Spacetownusa, the bravehearts of the blogging world worked anonymously in what appeared to be huge numbers, in unison, to destroy the Bush-Guard story, to uphold one another's wild and hateful claims, to outshout, outargue, and outblog anyone who dared to disagree. And on their Web sites there is no disagreement. They hate in unison, they speak with one angry voice, they each make themselves bigger by staying as close together as possible.

We all mindlessly agree about - truth.Great point. However, I would suggest that anyone who thinks we mindlessly agree simply start a Mac vs. PC, free trade/NAFTA, or War on Drugs thread.

Give me a break. One reason I love this site is the debate! We do, however, know truth when we see it and there was no question about this one. Buckhead was right and we supported him.
The MSM needs to understand that it is a whole new world out there and being a "sunburned overweight Florida tourist" doesn't make it anymore. People have too many other places to get their news. The MSM will be held accountable for their actions. They can't get away with what they used to do to deceive. People are becoming more aware of their practices now. The internet is the new Fourth Estate.

She has written, with a few name changes, the Modus Operindi of the news profession for the past fifty years. That last sentence is The Boston Globe, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, The Minneapolis Star Tribune, The Austin Statesman American, and dozens of like minded "news organizations" adhering like bondo to the democratic party line.

It was a dark and stormy night. Buckhead was in the shadows. He and the other swarming FreePer sharks were lurking, lusting, salivating. Rather bled a little, and the swarm moved in.Cue: Music from 'Jaws'.

I first heard her comments on Rush's show yesterday. My first thought was....my God, they let a raving moonbat be a big time Producer of CBS news for years and years and no one knew.
The woman needs serious help for her deeply delusional mind.

Boston Freepers, this affront to anyone who ever wrote a letter to the editor will be on WRKO's Jon DePetro Show tomorrow morning. The # is 1-617-266-6868. Please feel free to call in and drive her to the mental institution.
Maureen Dowd was on the Scott Allan Miller Show this morning. I thought Michael Douglas just left her for KZJ for looks. JEEEEZZZZUUUSSS, have you ever heard her voice?

(After yesterday's Mapes' Good Morning America appearance, CBS issued the following statement, which Larry King read to Mapes last night):
"KING: We're here with Mary Mapes, the book "Truth and Duty, the Press, the President and the Privilege of Power." CBS News gave us this statement today.
"Mary Mapes' actions damaged CBS News as an organizational and brought pain to many colleagues with whom she worked. Her disregard for journalistic standards -- and for her colleagues -- comes through loud and clear in her interviews and in the book that attempts to rewrite the history of this complex and sad affair.
As always, revisionist history must be tested against the facts. Not only are those facts contained in the extensive media coverage that took place at the time, but also in the 200-plus-page report of the independent panel which investigated the matter for more than three months.
We believe those facts speak for themselves. The idea that a news organization would not need to authenticate such important source material is only one of the troubling and erroneous statement in her account."
(Mapes only reply was: CBS has been working on that statement for months.)

Do Not attempt to adjust your computer. We control your thoughts and your keystrokes. You have now entered a world where there is total agreement and total lack of selfworth. You have entered the FREEPZONE.

Freepers began to repeat and embellish Buckhead's thoughts. As opposed to hiring what, one or two "experts" to authenticate the documents without seeing them.

Well, remember that Hitler justified his invasion of Poland in 1939 by claiming that Poland had just attacked Germany first! I believe the LWP"MS"M (Left-Wing Propaganda, so-called "Main-Stream" Media) has the same thought processes as the (left-wing, not right-wing) National Socialists of that time. That is the belief in one's superiority and will to power.

Her comments about how quickly her lies were unmasked displays why the fringe, radical, ultra-left still are unaware of the power of talk radio and the internet. They still believe that they can lie with impunity and have their detractors quieted by refusal of editors to run the complaint letters. Well, on the internet and on talk radio, their is no gatekeeper to squelch dissent. And there is always an expert at hand.
Try to slip a lie past a talk radio host and somebody who has expertise in that area is already listening. If they can get through, then the lie will be rebutted. On the internet, we don't have to wait to be selected to speak. Buckhead's observation simply allowed for a starting point where a coherent argument could be developed. Others, sometimes with specialized knowledge weighed in and the thread of a theory developed. A mighty brainstorming session.
By the end of the week, the far-left kook fringe was left arguing that there was equipment available in the market that could have produced a memo which looked remarkable like MS Word. They left open the reason why the Air Force would have purchased expensive specialized commercial typesetting equipment for use by untrained clerks for generating memos. And apparently this is the only military installation of its kind at the time with such high-end equipment.
Oh well. She hasn't been "proved wrong" yet. And she hasn't yet proved that she is not a lying producer.

Her behavior is the ultimate display of arrogance, ignorance and projection. She will not accept the fact that she was wrong about Bush, someone who she hates with all her heart. Therefore, since she can't bring herself to reality, she blames others for possessing her own shortcomings.
Seriously, these liberals are exhibiting conceited thought patterns that are not far from those of the homicide bombers. They just lack the devotion that would be necessary for them to off themselves. I mean, they would never die for their cause; but are only brave enough to kill the most innocent and least defensible humans on this planet.
