So, let me see if I understand this.. A big budget bill, which contains enough pork to feed reelection campaigns, is threatened with not enough votes because of drilling in Alaska?
Riiiiiiight. RINOs looking for environmental credentials. Gotta love them.

The principle-free Republican Party is utterly useless. Screwing around while the Moos get ready to screw us.

If they don't take a very public anti-abortion, anti-homosexual stand, they have no principles, and are instant RINO's, and doomed to absolute failure. Their is no such thing as a fiscal conservative. Either your a social conservative, or your not a conservative, because you HAVE NO PRINCIPLES, and your word is worthless!!!!

"In a concession to lawmakers upset with a spate of cuts to social programs, GOP leaders bowed to pressure from Cuban-American lawmakers from the Miami area to loosen new restrictions on food stamps benefits for legal immigrants."
Oh boy what a compromise. Once again the dims come out on top thanks to our spineless republican party. Anyone still think Bush wont sign away the world oceans to the UN? Anyone think Bush wont sign away the Internet to the UN for some cheap compromise? When are the republicans going to stand up to these RINO posers and dims?

In a sense the Democrats are principled -- they are corrupt but when all is said and done they are guided by their vision of a socialist America ruled by some oligarchy of billionaires. The Republicans are guided by a vague feeling that they could do socialism more efficiently than the Democrats if only the leftists liked them. The Republicans remind one of a three year old who climbs into a parked car, plays with the steering wheel, and says, "Look, Daddy, I'm a big boy! I can drive a car!" Pathetic.

Electoral Votes.
CA & NY go dems. TX goes pub. FL is in play.
In election 2000, Bush won FL only because the Green Party siphoned off a lot of dem votes that would have elected Gore.
In which case, you would now be complaining about Gore/Dems instead of Bush/Pubs.
Without FL, the 08 pub nominee cannot win.

Well... great to know we'll carry one state 2008.

You know, I'm about sick of this party. Why do we insist on keeping our dependence on a bunch of idiots who hate us???
The dims are no better, but the revolution is very over in my eyes.
This is disappointing.

On the OTHER "Curse those cowardly Republicans" thread, Pukin Dog wrote:
It appears that not a single one of you know how this game is played. These drilling options will be in the final reconciliation bill. This is just a stupid maneuver to allow vulnerable politicians to claim that they voted against ANWAR. Their votes will not be needed in the final bill, which only requires 50% approval. The budget will pass and ANWAR will be in it, but FReepers are still falling prey to MSNBC bull$hit, and it is getting embarrassing.
All I can say is I surely hope Pukin Dog is right and not just "Keepin' Hope Alive". There are plenty of blue state Republicans who need the cover of having to say, "I voted against it before I voted for it". Gutless? Sure but the Greens are very popular in urban environments where they beathe public transportation deasel all day. Clearly it does affect their brains. Of course Greenie philosophy makes no sense and is actually anti-capitalism but to urbanites - it makes them feeeeel so good. Republicans who must fight urban warfare often have to "pick their battles". Whether or not Pukin Dog's scenario will play out or not, time will tell but what he writes certainly makes sense.

This doesn't necessarily mean that the pubs can win FL, it only keeps it in play.
To: Recovering_Democrat
The president should have been down there or had the congressmen up to the white house to explain that we are AT WAR with the towel heads that control our fuel supplies and that it is a matter of national security to drill where ever and when ever we have to, to keep the country solvent. then if they failed, he should have used an executive mandate as part of a WAR footing to achieve goals neccessary for our country's survival. Jeeze, don't the Congress, Senate and the Executive see this?????
