A Catholic advocacy group has launched a national boycott against Wal-Mart, claiming the world's No. 1 retailer has in effect "banned" Christmas, while promoting other seasonal holidays such as Hanukkah and Kwanzaa.
But Wal-Mart tells WorldNetDaily it has "absolutely not" banned Christmas, but is just "trying to serve all our customers for the holiday season."

It must be. ;)
I don't know about the Walmart where you shop, but I do chat with the stockboy about local school sports, and the clerks do know my name, and my kids names. They have time for hugs from my boys, and take time to find out how I am doing.
My Wlamart is just as packed with Christmas stuff as the local KMart. I refuse to shop at Target because of their support of gay groups and their complete lack of support for groups like Salvation Army.
I, for one, will not boycott Walmart because they recognize a different religion than mine. If they ever completely rid themselves of all things Christian I will consider it. But i know that when I am shopping for gifts (music, books, etc) I can usually find Christian content. My son actually shops there first for his Christian conhtemporary music because of its availability and reasonale pricing there at Walmart.
See post #83 and submit your bid.
Wouldn't it just be easier and smarter to say "Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!".
The Wal-mart people in my town where I love Jesus pins and say have a blessed day or what ever they want to, so I will be very surprised if I do not hear a lot of Merry Christmas's soon.
Might as well be honest about it; the only holiday that retail celebrates is called Golden Quarter. Deity not included, some assembly is required.
Yep, just hang all the signs up, cover them all.
Please post the paragraphs where this thread is quoted, so the WND can then post your posting of those paragraphs. I will post their quoting of the subsequent posts, though we will need volunteers for future postings and quotings.
Since Wal-mart's home is Arkansas, I am sure that you have hit the nail on the head.
I will be delighted to support any retailer who refrains from wishing me "Merry Christmas" until no earlier than December 24! Spare me the Christmas music, too.
I think I'll go to Wal-mart tomorrow - out of trash bags, anyway - and if someone wishes me a Happy Veterans' Day, I'll give him a big hug!
You go ahead and boycott Walmart. I will look beyond the Holiday "Holy Day" page and browse through 7,970 inexpensively priced items labeled "Christmas", as I shop.
Costco has just found a way to suck Donohue and WND into their "bankrupt Walmart" plan. It's sad to see supposed conservatives joining "organized labor" and going against Walmart, the company that epitomizes free-market capitalism.
What about Festivus?
I have no problem with saying "Merry Christmas," nor do I get upset when someone wishes me one! For goodness sakes, we know that Christmas is always on December 25th, every year. I can never keep track of when Chanuka starts, being based on a lunar calendar! Besides, when more than 80% of your fellow countrymen are Christian, then you can make certain assumptions. This isn't "oppression." It's common courtesy.
The "Founding Fathers" decided to create a government based on the principals of a Republic, not a democracy. This ensured against what is known as "the tyranny of the majority." However, the loonies seem to have taken over the assylum, and what we're now presented with is a "tyranny of the minority!"

Here in NYC many of the Jews in the diamond district even wear Santa beards...
Actually, it's NOT just a religious holiday. If you check into it, you'll see that it's a federal holiday, enacted by legislation too.

Thanks for your thoughtful post. Somehow, the marketing experts and the politically correct crowd seem to be more sensitive about not using the C word than non-Christians are.
I've been in the market for a good bridge--can you deliver? Today? (grins)
