For such an esteemed debater, and marketing expert, you sure resort to insults to bolster your (weak) arguments.

You admit that Christmas is not a primary search? Thanks!

My wife has gotten hired to work in the TOYS Dept. in Wal Mart. She was hired as Christmas help.
Trust there is no banning of Christmas going on there.

Not buying any Christmas gifts this year, making everything. Knitting and baking.

But they are demeaning Christmas as a holiday...

Excuse me, but Christmas is a holiday!

How are they demeaning it? By having offerings for other religions? By having a holiday page instead of a Christmas page that contains Christmas items?

I go back to my original post.....Wal-Mart did not drop the Christmas name overall or on specific items.

Your argument holds no water.

I am surprised to find FReepers who agree with the pc junk Walmart has fallen for.

1. It is absolutely foolish for any company to believe that be appeasing the left, they will reduce their vulnerability to attacks from the left.

2. Christmas and Hannukah are religious holidays. "Kwaanza" is a political statement by race hustlers, felons and hard-core radical leftists that is being passed off as a quasi-religious, quasi-cultural, quasi-holiday as part of an ongoing campaign to undermine Western / American culture. Recognition of Kwaanza as anything else entails buying into the big lie.

3. Walmart's most loyal defenders and customers are the red state Americans who appreciate hearing the words "Merry Christmas". A thoughtful analysis of the targeted markets for expanded sales generated through "holiday diversity" compared with the lost sales of alienated core customers would suggest that this is a poorly thought-through strategy by our friends in Benton Arkansas!

You are mistaken. Search engines exhibit agenda always. Just ask people in China who will never find the word "freedom" or "democracy" or the like in Yahoo! or Google or MSN because of an agenda.

Marketers are people, with biases, likes and dislikes. Their agendas always come through.

I invite Wal-Mart to do whatever they would like. I don't care as long as I have the freedom to decide whether to do business there.

I also don't care at all whether the public school system makes provisions for my Christian holidays. I don't feel any need for bureaucratic validation.

I don't see it. The whole thing seems like an awful waste of time.

And of course there are the intentionally obtuse,

Better watch out how you use that word "obtuse", it got Andy Dufresne 30 days in solitary when he used it on Warden Norton in the Shawshank Redemption.

Better yet, why don't you do what I just did after I caught wind of this story. I went right to their web page and wrote a lengthy letter telling them that because they are bigots about the Christian holiday and instead celebrating a false holiday, called Kwanzaa, I or my wife will not be shopping there again.

Thanks for posting this story and God Bless.

A friend ran the search last night and came up with like 7,900 hits for Christmas stuff.

It sounds like someone, likely in a competitor's marketing department, decided to start an urban legend.

You don't think the Republicans should fight back against lies spread by the Democrats?

That's funny. When do they fight back?

What people say and what people do is entirely different.  Money talks and morality walks.

Christmas has become a huge communalized industry and most, if not all, religious origins, history and traditions have been long forgotten by the new generation and their parents.  It's all about toys and gifts...nothing else.

Most parents would shudder at boycotting Wal-Mart if they had the only gay jihad Joe action figure in town and little spoiled Johnny would have a fit if they didn't get it. Furthermore, if the doll was sold at old geezers department store down the road at $25.00 and at Wal-Mart for $21.00, they would die before they would pay that $4.00 difference.

It's sad, but just about all religious aspects are gone from both Christmas and Easter to make room for commercialization.

I went to their web page and checked. Found nothing at all offensive when I put Christmas in the site search. Shame you didn't put the word "Bible" in their site search - before you accused them of being bigots. Or Christian books - returned almost 65,000 entries.

I suspect this story is just more WalMart bashing (and it's not even Saturday :) /sarc

Boycott them all, any business falling in line with the Liberal agenda needs to be sent a message, a strong message.
