who was a license for the weapon I call bulls!t. Texas does not require a license or permit to own a weapon. She may have had CHL, but it would not matter in her home.

Grandmas in Texas are tougher than "men" in San Francisco.

Listen up FR ladies:"He was 6 feet tall," she said. "He could have done something horrible my granddaughter and me. That's exactly the reason you need to learn how to handle (a firearm) and keep it with you."

That's exactly the reason you need to learn how to handle (a firearm) and keep it with you."Good effort, but a .38 and a leg shot with two rounds expended?
"Keep it with you" B+, "learn how to handle it" C. I give a B+ because she accessed it. I give a C because some people couldn't handle the situation at all.
Great outcome anyway and I am so glad that she made a better effort than most folks!!

I wish she had killed him.
We need to eliminate these vermin when possible.

She's absolutely right! Everyone should have a gun to defend themselves. She's one gutsy lady to have gone into her house looking for the intruder. She should have called the police and let them go in to find him. Thankfully she was able to shoot him and she nor her granddaughter were hurt.

Hi All-
"...Susan Buxton, 66, was not expected to face charges..."
Why does this inane narration even need to be provided? An innocent and peaceful woman in her own house shoots a dangerous intruder fleeing the police and we need to be told that she isn't expected to face charges? Give me a break already!

Muddy footprint????It hasn't rained in Texas since the Hurricane came through, and I think it missed Arlington. But, anyway, the little lady did a great thing.
To: tuffydoodle
She missed the femoral artery. .38's are great for learning to shoot with, but step up a bit for your carry piece. At least use a hot load .38+P with a good hollowpoint bullet. This is your LIFE on the line here.
