Unmasking Political Correctness by William S. Lind
In this edition, Paul Weyrich refers to "cultural Marxism." He asked me, as Free Congress Foundation's resident historian, to write this column explaining what cultural Marxism is and where it came from. In order to understand what something is and what to do about it, you have to know its history.
Cultural Marxism is a branch of western Marxism, different from the Marxism-Leninism of the old Soviet Union. It is commonly known as "multiculturalism" or, less formally, Political Correctness. From its beginning, the promoters of cultural Marxism have known they could be more effective if they concealed the Marxist nature of their work, hence the use of terms such as "multiculturalism."
Cultural Marxism began not in the 1960s but in 1919, immediately after World War I. Marxist theory had predicted that in the event of a big European war, the working class all over Europe would rise up to overthrow capitalism and create communism. But when war came in 1914, that did not happen. When it finally did happen in Russia in 1917, workers in other European countries did not support it. What had gone wrong?
To Quote Rush Limbaugh: "Liberalism is always defeated when it is voted on by the people."
So yes, they have to disguise their agenda.
I guess Rush missed California this morning.
To Quote Rush Limbaugh: "Liberalism is always defeated when it is voted on by the people."Unfortunately, after yesterday's election, we have to add the words, "except in California".
It's one thing when Democrats win elections (New Jersey, Virginia), that's part of the political process. But when an entire state stands up and votes to continue the tyranny of the public trough workers, then we have to say: They voted for liberalism. Sad. But true.
We are steadily seeing this country move to the left in spite of Republican victories. This might help some here to begin to see the reason for political correctness and the basis of the Democrat power base,ie homos, minorities,& feminists.
A good piece. Thanks for posting.
BUMP
You are very welcome. There are lots of FReepers that are too new to have learned very much about this, I hope it helps.
Allowing public trough workers to run the state is bad enough; the result, spending beyond the state's means into infinity is not something that will remain unnoticed indefinitely.
Expect taxes to explode, reach critical mass and trigger a new round of more draconian corrective initiatives.
Liberal policies can exist only so long as there is an endless supply of slaves or idiots...
"Oh Lind, what won't you blame on the Jews."
I believe he was blaming Communists, not just Jewish Communists.
That particular tribe picks our pockets thruout their working lives, AND then thru their self/politician-voted retirements....Yeh, I'm jealous!....Unfortunately for them, reality is coming in less than a generation I believe.
Expect taxes to explode, reach critical mass and trigger a new round of more draconian corrective initiatives. You missed a step: Federal Bailout.
Do you happen to know the voting percentage of those eligible?
Well you you have got to stop the indoctrination in the public school system first. This is where the battle is really being fought with the help of the MSM. dept of education would be a good start.
where is all this stuff being taught any way? my first intro to PC thinking was in school....
change in the courts is the other battle
Those are just the useful idiots. The real power is the government unions and the entrenched bureaucracies.
There is nothing spontaneous about socialism where it appeared in the early 20th century. It was calculated apart from and above the people who it purported to 'liberate'. It 'exploited the fear of workers, isolated them and undermined their historical individuality...making them feel powerless...in need of a system to guarantee everything for them. Socialism is nothing but a systematic form of egalitarian barbarism which institutionalizes pillage and looting' (read, taxation) Only moral cripples can accept socialism or anything like it. Ortega y Gasset said it was 'a piece of moral extravagance.. a dead letter'.
No. What is it?
Unfortunately, what starts in California has a way of metastasizing across the country.
