FAR-RIGHT IN GERMANY WANTS FOREIGNERS PUT IN CAMPS AND EXPELLED

Berlin (dpa) - A far-right party in Germany said Wednesday that foreigners living in the country should be put into ``collection camps'' and then expelled if French-style violence breaks out.

The National Democratic Party of Germany (NPD), which last year won 9.2 per cent of the vote in Saxony state and has 12 seats in the regional parliament, called for laws aimed at reducing the population of resident foreigners.

Germany has about 7.3 million foreigners who comprise some 9 per cent of the total population.

``If riots are organised like in France then collection camps and vigilantes must be organised in time to protect life and property,'' said the NPD.

If they are legal immigrants, then there should be a law changing their status over a reasonable time; if illegal, go instantly.

Note that these are immigrants, NOT CITIZENS. Some Freepers think you can just kick out any group of citizens that you want to, even if SOME of them are rioting. As George H. W. Bush would have said, "Ain't gonna do it. Wouldn't be prudent."

Many of these were LEGAL immigrants. Do you want to kick them out too? If so, how long do you give them? What about contract rights?

Illegals, yes. But booting legal immigrants short of a declaration of war is a dumb idea unless you have "due process."

There were some important differences and you know it: a) FDR did not put all Japanese in camps, only those on the West Coast where we were EXPECTING AN INVASION and where there was no certainty about loyalty;

b) All were processed by the FBI and many released after being cleared. It was slow, but it in no way compares with Hitler, and to suggest it did is sophistry.

c) Enacting necessary WARTIME measures, that are later determined to be unconstitution, does not make it "wrong." It was not constitutional, but it was the wise and prudent thing to do. Some German-Americans and Italian-Americans were also detained on the East Coast, though there was never any danger of the Axis invading there.

The last time the far right in Germany set up 'collection camps' it didn't end well :o

Better brush up on your history, the Nazi were left wing socialists. The conservatives in Germany tried to stop the Nazis and were virtually wiped out politcally speaking in the 1930's.

Please stop perpetuating that myth.

It's difficult not to make comparisons to other camps in Germany's past.

I am only speaking from experience ,having lived in Germany until my early twenties and having seen and heard what the NPD preaches and stands for.

The NPD will incite riots ,with their talk of camps ,rather then prevent them.JMO.

You are correct, ILLEGAL is the operative word.

Hitler pretty much ruined that, however, paticularly for Germans.

UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE YEAR AWARD GOES TO....

"HITLER PRETTY MUCH RUINED THAT"

1. It's not a myth in the context of 1930s Germany.

2. The NPD IS the far-right. They are not, however, conservatives.

I would agree with you that Hitler was no conservative -- and that the conservatives did (after a while) oppose him. The conservatives Kurt von Schleicher and von Hindenberg were the ones who brought Hitler into power, thinking they could control him, even though they themselves were adamently opposed to Nazism.

actually ...and I know folks will hate this......

National Socialism was a mixed bag of conventional political labels.

Oligarchic capitalism and crony-ism blended with state industry.

Fanatic nationalism blended with hyper military industrialization.

Some "programs" which would mimic a Socialist bent perhaps.

Mythical Teutonic dogma blended with pathological hatred towards Jews and other enemies deemed subhuman.

All shadowed by totalitarian state control.

I'm not sure how much right or left by our standards National Socialism was. It was authoritarian to be sure but hardly collective and Hitler's hatred for what he saw as a Jewish instigated Bolshevism is well known.

Anyhow...on Muslims....Europe has too many and they are outbreeding the indigs. Muslim culture is incompatible with Western culture. We have been fighting this for a millenia.

Historically, it is very very difficult to stop one large culture from simply moving over and displacing another and that is what is happening to a degree in Europe. Islam is trying for a foothold in the US too. I see no good whatsoever in the spread of Islam to the West. Only trouble.

Actually it was Von Pappen who supported Hitler to get back at Von Schleicher that really brought Hitler to power. Hindenburg was too senile to know what was going on.

I'm surprised that Germans would even mention camps, given their history with them.

Unlike the de-Nazification done in Western States of Germany by America, England and France, the Russians did a poor job of de-Nazification in the eastern States of Germany.

I follow events in the US labratory system.

imho one of the uses of carbon nano tubes will be the creation of dirt cheap semi permiable membranes that convert salt water to fresh water at room temperature and pressure.

basically the cost of water desalination will become dirt cheap. Since most of the world's deserts are right beside the ocean--the consequence will be that the world's deserts will be turned green.

The habitable size of the earth will double.

So if the moslems were expelled from europe they would be returned to a green and verdant and unpopulated ....Sahara.

It was wrong when FDR did and would be wrong now. Same crime, different year.

It was effective in preventing sabotage and reduced espionage. It also helped protecte the Japanese in America from vigilate action.

Those who wanted to be good citizens were allowed to do so.
