The conservatives Kurt von Schleicher and von Hindenberg were the ones who brought Hitler into power, thinking they could control him, even though they themselves were adamently opposed to Nazism.
Actually it was Von Pappen who supported Hitler to get back at Von Schleicher that really brought Hitler to power. Hindenburg was too senile to know what was going on.
