I briefly caught Christine Annonpour (sp) on CNN yesterday. She was going on and on about the pour disenfranchised 'youths' who were using the rioting as their only means of expression to get the attention of the upper crust of French politics.
[Her report was so thick with the sad-song, it was sickening -- listening to her. CNN should have overlayed an Alert banner: Tissue Alert -- Tearjerker Report in Progress.]
CNN failed to mention that the rioters were receiving organization support from external concerns, that the riots showed organization and planning, that rioting may be the new form of al-Qaeda type terrorism, etc.

In other news, Jim Maceda came up with a new arrangement of deck chairs for the Titanic, creating open lanes for better viewing of ice bergs and life boats.

If you haven't yet seen Tony Blankley's piece in the Wash Times, I highly recommend it. He has this problem absolutely nailed. It is very disturbing.

Mark, put me on your ping list. Thanks.

You have to understand that France is THE template that the MSM uses to gage America. They have such generous vacation-time don't you know!
The riots must cease... but no violence should ever be used, or even contemplated for this to happen. There is ALWAYS a peaceful way to assuage an aggressor... tribute first, then appeasement... then of course, surrender.

Bingo! Mr. Blankley saw this coming over a year ago- his foresight is eerie.

Where's Madame Defarge and the guillotine when you need them? As far as I'm concerned, they can can round up every single "disaffected yoot", scourge them on the street, then behead them.

All media outlets including FOX have missed the boat. This is an assimilation problem as much as it is racial or economic. If these media types admit it is assimilation, they lose because their world view is now shattered.

Dumb as a fence post. I have a few fence posts on my property, and I'll have you know that, unlike Mr. Villepin, they do a good job and are quite useful. They don't travel as much, but by golly, they don't bend when you push on them.
Consider your next epithet carefully.

good post tomguy, what a magnificent change in tactics if this is true. riots are endemic, yet al queda has possibly found a way around the label of terrorism. as i have said before, in a strange way, i must congratulate such formidable foes. i wish we could hire some of their theoroticians and make them work for our side, they seem so much more able to think out of the box than us.

series of new and expanded welfare programs What people here fail to realize is that we are far more generous and welcoming than any of the Europeans. Immigrants (legal ones) have always been desired as employees. There is little resentment among Americans (except for illegal immigrants) because we generally appreciate hard work and good service. Things are different in Europe. There are far more racists there who hate immigrants, even those from other European countries. Hard work is not appreciated because many Europeans believe that it "takes" work away from other people. Europeans do not integrate and assimilate. There are Italian areas in Swiss town as one example, completely segregated, not bothering to learn German or French in the German and French speaking areas. Finally, jobs are given to immigrants by the government at the real expense of the natives. There is much resentment and even hatred that does not exist here.
In short, don't be fooled by the socialist/multiculturalist lip service by the European politicians. The Muslims in France are not.

Last night's NBC News suggested that France should use affirmative action to help the poor youths get jobs. I almost hurled.
