How long has the election been over? Half an hour, one and a half? They have 48% already counted? People in Virginia work that fast?
This is starting to look very bad. If Kaine wins by that margin i'll be surprised. 6% margin? I would have guessed 1-2%. Better find ways to turn this around in 2006.

He also waffled on abortion (he's pro-abortion, but has tried to backtrack on it) and ran as a devoted Christian. He also claimed to be pro-gun (he isn't). He ran a good, although dishonest, campaign and it may have worked.
Loudon is not really a big republican area. Growing county and alot of transients. Don't put all your stock in that county. However, it is a big county. Hope the right people showed up there to vote today.

Polls closed at 7. That's about an hour and a half ago.
Loudoun is much more conservative than Fairfax.
Wolf is the representative there and he's solid red.
Fairfax has Tom Davis, a moderate, and Jim Moran, a facist socialist as its reps.

Loudon is now part of the D.C. suburban sprawl, so I wouldn't count on its being as conservative as it once was.
I wouldn't put all my stock in Loudoun, but it's a big county. Over the last few years it's become a distant suburb of D.C., likely with a lot of libs/Dems, but it still has a lot of rural population further west that leans a little more conservative.
And, yet it voted strongly for Bush.
I agree. His campaign was not run well. He didn't clearly distinguish himself from the Kaine. He was against illegal immigration but he failed to get this message out. In fact, I never saw anything that indicated this. I also heard he was poor at debating but I didn't see any of those. His campaign failed to get back to WMAL AM 630 (Rush Limbaugh radio station) here in Northern Virginia concerning transportation questions that were also asked of the Kaine campaign. The Kaine campaign responded and WMAL reported their response, WMAL also reported that the Kilgore campaign failed to get back to them. This is bad publicity and also evidence of a disorganized campaign. Inviting the not so popular President Bush I believe was also a mistake.
I agree. Work there. I am not betting on that county. Believe it will be a wash. Too many libs keep moving there.
Agree. Bad campaign. Should have defined Kaine much earlier as a liberal. Waited too late to define Kaine. Time he did it fell on deaf ears.
I'm calling it for Kaine. The erosion from the Bush totals is everywhere, and too large. Kaine is carrying Prine William County by 4%. Bush carried it by 6%, while carrying the state by 8%. In Chesterfield, Kilgore is winning by 10%, Bush won by 26%. Kaine will win by maybe 4% I would guess.
One does hope Catholics in Virginia are not as easily mesled as their brethren in New Jersey.
