Actually, when you look at it as a breakdown of civilization, rather than a demonstration with a "purpose" rather than a simple riot, the sports riots make perfect sense. Several thousand people gather in one spot, some of them liquored up. A couple individuals attack stores, police cars, whatever.
The first few individuals get away with whatever they are doing, because they can get lost in the crowd. Then the whole crowd realizes that the normal restraints are off, and they can do anything they want and get away with it. Result? A riot.
The dynamics are exactly the same, regardless of the initial purpose which brought the crowd together. Recall the free concert that Diana Ross gave in Central Park, a couple decades ago. At the end, she urged the huge crowd to "leave gently." Instead, they rioted and smashed store fronts on their way home.

(Do you think Fitzpatrick resembled Captain Queeg, coming apart on the witness stand?)

(The cold-heartedness of libs, toward the Iraqis's attempts for a better life, takes my breath away.)

I am still talking to people who say -- "They are rioting in Paris? Muslims? I haven't seen that on the news." I tell you, Martians could land in California and half the people wouldn't know. aaarrrrggggg, ignorance is bliss.
