Although the superintendent says he's under the impression the act wasn't done maliciously, it doesn't matter. He says this kind of action regarding race, religion, cultures -- just can't happen.

Can anyone spot the irony in this statement ?

Let's put this in perspective. It's OK for a child to wear the costume of an axe murderer or a demonically screeching witch, but not a demonically demented KKK person?

When Christians complain about Halloween celebrations, we are told that Halloween is just a fun holiday for kids, and the costumes are just for fun, not to be taken literally. But now it's no longer just good old fashioned fun, now that some kids want to have some fun in sheets and hoods. (I'm not stating a position WRT to whether they SHOULD be having fun in sheets and hoods, mind you.)

Students and administrators in Rising Sun, Indiana, say they're upset it happened and shocked the students would do it. The principal made the students take off the outfits right away, but the damage was done.

Was there any reason to get this upset? Had there been racial tension at the school? Had the KKK made any appearances? Or were these just kids being goofy?
