France Facing 'Horrendous' Balance Sheet
The New York Sun ^ | November 8, 2005 | MICHEL GURFINKIEL - Special to the Sun

PARIS - A curfew was set up yesterday at Le Raincy, a neighborhood in the eastern suburbs of Paris. The order was issued by the local conservative mayor, Eric Raoult. The prime minister, Dominique de Villepin, made clear on television that similar measures might soon be enforced on a broader scale. "Restoring public safety is our top priority," he said. After 11 days and nights of rioting, the country was coming close to a civil war.

A map published in the afternoon by Le Monde showed that ethnic violence - the "French Intifada," as it is being referred to by some journalists and political leaders - had spread almost all over the country, with the exception of Inner Brittany, western Normandy, and Burgundy, where North African and black communities are small, and Corsica, where a large North African community is held in check by a local nationalist movement that itself is prone to violence. Most major cities, including Lyons, Marseille, Lille, Toulouse, and Bordeaux, have been hit.

This is a little like freaking out about Monticello or Mount Vernon during the 1992 Rodney King riots in L.A.

France is a big country.

I strongly doubt that the children of immigrants, living in these cruddy ghettoes on the outskirts of the cities, have any idea these cemeteries exist or how to get to them. It's just not on the radar.

I could just as easily question why so many people are concerned about Normandy without expressing any concern about the many World War I graveyards that are much closer to Paris and immigrant communities in northern France. All this shows is that people don't have a great perspective on what's going on and why.

Who caused this isolation and pauperization? Could it be a racist French Government? But they live in and on government subsidies so that can't be the case. Or perhaps they have gotten so used to sucking at the government teat that they are unwilling to extricate themselves from poverty. Still, I fail to see how rioting will solve this.
However, if these riots were merely another form of jihad, a way of instilling terror on the West, then it all makes sense.

LBJ, never one of my favorites, when learning of DeGaulle's order to remove US soldiers from French land remarked " ask him about the cemeteries."

Hardly. The French and their muslim population have absolutely no reason to respect anything that has an American label on it. Our soldiers' graves have already been desecrate once. Our "questions" (not "freak outs"), are more for a point of reference and concern.

As I said in my previous post, the objectives of these tasks would be the instilling of terror in the West. Terror for terror's sake.
As to why poor people, in particular blacks and hispanics, gravitate to cities in America, the answer is politics. Cities in this country, by their very nature, have (soon to be had) large tax bases. This provided money for the politicians to promise to the impoverished. Hence the migration from poor rural areas to cities and thus providing voting blocs within these cities to perpetuate these same politicians.

No, what happened is that people moved to the cities 50 or more years ago from the south because there were good jobs to be had and more opportunities. Eventually the jobs left, but the people stayed. That's also why immigrants moved to the cities in years past, and now many are bypassing the cities in favor of the suburbs or factory farms where there are jobs.

The only good thing Johnson ever did:

In 1966 upon being told that President Charles DeGaulle had taken France out of NATO and that all U.S. Troops must be evacuated off of French soil President Lyndon Johnson mentioned to Secretary of State Dean Rusk that he should ask DeGaulle about the Americans buried in France. Dean implied in his answer that that DeGaulle should not really be asked that in the meeting at which point President Johnson then told Secretary of State Dean Rusk:

"Ask him about the cemeteries Dean!"

That made it into a Presidential Order so he had to ask President DeGaulle.

So at end of the meeting Dean did ask DeGaulle if his order to remove all U.S. troops from French soil also included the 60,000+ soldier buried in France from World War I and World War II.

DeGaulle, embarrassed, got up and left and never answered.

In the 40's in NYC (where I lived for 50+yrs.) politicians exhorted Puerto Ricans to come there and escape the poverty of the island. The generous welfare system was a major factor. During the 60's and 70's another migration of blacks from the South took place. At that time, the jobs were aldready leaving, so the only incentive was welfare.

Not only Normandy, France has several more, Luxembourg, and Belgium. Go to the ABMC site (search) the French run those cemeteries in their country.

I am considering writing my Congressmen, time to bring the boys home..

The first reports were that the rioting was mostly confined to the muslim neighborhoods. Has that changed?

From what I can tell from reports, the rioting is in cities/towns with large Muslim populations - they are not moving out to towns with little or no Muslim/African populations, but more and more towns with a significant Muslin/African population are flaring up.

In the run up to the Iraq war both ours and British graves were hit with graffiti. I only see this problem as getting worse. I'll see if I can find the titles of some the threads.

I suggest you research what is said in some Mosques in Europe.

I suggest you remember the "headscarf" issue from two years ago.

I recommend you recall the bombings in France early 90s.

I suggest you strain your short term memory and recall who was behind Madrid, London, and Van Gogh.

Islam is no “religion of peace”. It preaches hate. They don’t accept your way of life and while they come to Europe because of the material wealth, they do NOT want to be like you. In fact, they despise you. They want what you have, but loath your values. You are a dirty “infidel” in many of their minds. In your casual European way you feel compelled to minimize the significance of this. Sure! Call them disenfranchised youths. "Look look there are a few non-Muslims too! See, it's not a Muslim problem!" Pretend this is no cultural issue in reality. In fact, the Global War On Terror is just a made up figment in George Bush’s mind. There is no threat! George Bush is the threat!

These issues tend to rapidly change their face. The US is the leader within NATO, UN, the WTO, and the GWOT. Cemeteries, (Which have been desecrated before in France- but now you feel like no one would ever do that) are not off limits to those who want to strike a symbolic target against Christian, Western, US values and interests.

Remember Kaplan? Probably not. But here’s a little fact for you. Countries like Germany and Italy have begun deporting people. Why do you think France restricts more immigrants from these countries?................

"Petra Schelm, Thomas Weisbecker, Holger Meins, Ulrich Wessel, Siegfried Hausner, Katharina Hammerschmidt, Ulrike Meinhof, Andreas Baader, Gudrun Ensslin, Jan-Carl Raspe, Ingrid Schubert, Willy-Peter Stoll, Michael Knoll, Elisabeth von Dyck, Juliane Plambeck, Wolfgang Beer, Sigurd Debus, Johannes Thimme, Wolfgang Grams und Horst Ludwig Meyer...."

Names of people who were killed at the hands of German communists who called themselves the RAF. Nearly half of all attacks were on Americans! HALF! A large potion of the dead were Americans. The US symbolizes the West, Democracy, Christians, Capitalism. We are target #1 for miscreants like those in France. Why was the WTC attacked? Maybe because it was also a “Symbol” of Capitalism, Western might, and and and?

You minimize the threat and don’t want to see the bigger issue at hand, consequently you’d never understand why US cemeteries could possibly be targeted. An American "symbol".

But go on, tell us it’s just “kids” or rioting based on some other “misunderstood” reason. The true underlying reason IS a clash of civilization, as with the headscarf issue two years ago where Imans were openly preaching violence. It’s real and it’s here, but the liberal mind will pretend it isn’t true. They can’t accept the reality. The liberal lives in a secular world, so it's not a concept he can understand.

Objectives?

C'mon, it's obvious.

All they really want is their own, independent "Paristinian" state.

Just give it to them, and then they'll be happy.

Until next time...

A kind of Jihad makes absolutely no sense. What should be the objectives of such a task?

They openly say they want the areas that are predominantly Muslim to be "no-go" areas for police and French government authority. (French mailmen can still deliver welfare checks, though)

Once they have Muslim areas, their next agenda item will be open immigration from the Islamic world. If they don't get it legally, then illegal immigration into the enclaves will not be difficult. The enclaves will grow. The more they grow, the more political power the Muzzies will want.

Thier ultimate goal is to take over control of France. You can't say that goal is ridiculous, because that goal is central to Islam
