John McCain: I Have Anger Issues
NewsMax ^ | 11/8/05

Sen. John McCain admitted Tuesday morning that he has anger management issues, confessing that it's a problem he's had to work on for many years.

"I constantly, throughout my career, have had to work on getting angry and frustrated and losing my temper," McCain told Fox News Channel's Brian Kilmeade, who was filling in on Tony Snow's radio show.

"I'm happy to say that I've managed almost always not succumb to that problem," the top 2008 presidential contender explained.

But McCain said his temper was particularly raw after he lost the GOP presidential nomination to President Bush five years ago.

"I was in a very bruising campaign and, as you know, politics is not beanbag," he told Kilmeade. "At first I was angry and thought I'd been unfairly treated and all that kind of stuff. I was feeling sorry for myself. You know, it's a lot of fun to feel sorry for yourself." "But after a couple weeks," said McCain, "I worked very hard not to look back in anger and not to hold a grudge."

"By the way, Americans don't like sore losers anyway," he reminded.

Trying to recall other instances where his temper had flared, McCain said:

"There's many others that - I'm sure my children could tell you [about] a large number of them better than I can. So you just keep working and you keep trying to emulate people you admire."

"I still have many failings," the Arizona maverick concluded

So now a guy who admits he has emotional problems, and particularly anger problems, wants us to make him President and put him in charge of the nuclear launch codes?

I always want a President who I believe has the fortitude to do what is necessary but I don't want one who might do something stupid in a pique of anger.

Uh-huh. And after those few weeks passed, you went back to holding a grudge and trying to control the administration's agenda from the Senate.

You're little different than Kerry, Gore and Richards in this respect. The people didn't choose you, and you're bitter. It must be dirty tricks or bad political form. Anything to massage the hit the ego takes. Though Richards has behaved the best, surprisingly, of the four of you in her loss.

Well, looks like we won't be dealing with a LEGITIMATE McCain '08 campaign. This is fodder he will see in every campaign from this day forward.

Senator RINOtor Quisling, I suggest buying this book ("Stopping the Violence" by David J. Decker) and trying a 12-week, faith-based, group program.

The beginning of wisdom is a fear of the Lord (i.e.; what rebelling against Him leads to).

So, McLame has anger issues! Who would have thought? Don't believe for a moment he's over losing and doesn't harbor a grudge against President Bush. And yes, Americans don't like a sore, vindictive, loser.

NO KIDDING!!

I watch him questing witnesses during hearings and he is a complete ass. He is often very angry and hostile, behavior not at all becoming of a Senator. It is Kennedy-like.

nothing wrong with anger. just need to release it appropriately.

he needs to work on directing it towards lib/dems and not at fellow repubs

Perhaps John McCain and Howard Dean can run on an Anger Management ticket.

I tend to think he's running in 2008.

Oh he'll run in '08, get to the March primary as the "darling of the MSM" and then then get crushed by the the conservative base. I honestly don't know who the base will be supporting at that time . . . just not McCain. We have a long memory.
