Al-Qaeda to launch 'offensive' in Iraq to counter US operation on Syrian border

Al-Qaeda's Iraq operation, led by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, said it was launching an offensive in the west of Iraq in response to a major US and Iraqi military operation on the Syrian border.

'Your brothers in the military branch of Al-Qaeda in the Land of Two Rivers are launching today 'The Conquest of Vengeance' on behalf of the Sunni community in Al-Qaim,' the group said in an online statement which could not be independently verified.

It stressed the group's 'right to defend the (Islamic) nation and avenge the honour and blood' of Iraqis.

The offensive came 'after the crusaders and the apostate government have not ceased their operations', referring to a warning it issued yesterday for US and Iraqi forces to halt their sweep against insurgents within 24 hours.

'After that they will only see from us the worst and something that's going to make the earth tremble under their feet,' the earlier statement said.

Operation Steel Curtain began Saturday and was designed to 'restore Iraqi sovereign control along the Iraqi-Syrian border and destroy the Al-Qaeda in Iraq terrorists operating throughout Al-Qaim region,' the US military said.

Around 1,000 Iraqi soldiers and a force of 2,500 US troops were engaged in the sweep, which the US military said has resulted in the deaths of at least one US marine, an Iraqi soldier and 36 'suspected rebels'.

Sixty-eight people were detained today who were believed to be insurgents, the military said.

"Maybe we should just leave Iraq before they get even madder."

Yeah, I agree. Let's leave Iraq via Syria.

Hmmm, I thought Al-Qeada and the war in Iraq had no connection.

I was reading Victor David Hansen's book "The Ripples of Battle" last night. He wrote that LeMay was assembling an armada of 50,000 bombers that would carpet bomb all of Japan if they hadn't surrendered.

I have no idea why we have to pretend that this is not a clash of civilizations and we have to show restraint over some imaginary line in the desert.

A good strategy would be an all-out FRONTAL ASSAULT!

Our troops would never be able to survive that and I sure hope they don't try it.

they call it its in the interest to be politically correct, that it can be handled politically.

"those" people are handling it exactly that way in france, "those " people are car bombing, those people see their needs cannot and will not be handled throught diplomacy. Theri philosophy calls for world domination through any measure. the any measure is not on the same playing field of civility that america wants to showcase.

its this same showcasing that will bleed america and prolong the fighting.

and through this they will only get stronger.

iran WILL bomb israel,
iran will invade france via the "palestinians" youth we see at work today

it aint gonna stop unless someone puts their foot down and plays the game at their level, something they understand.

<WHINY_LIB_MODE>
The only reason al-Queda is in Iraq is because Bush illegally invaded and the "freedom fighters" had to bring in outside help. If there are terrorists, then Bush created them!
</WHINY_LIB_MODE>

It doesn't make sense, but that's what I always hear when I point out the fact about an al_queda/Iraq connection.

Al-Qaeda's Iraq operation, led by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, said it was launching an offensive in the west of Iraq in response to a major US and Iraqi military operation on the Syrian border.

English translation: Al Qaeda has identified some vulnerable Shia civilian targets to launch a disgustingly bloody terror campaign against.

If they intend to run this campaign from Syria with impunity, time to use electronic-intel to pinpoint locations, save info, and then bomb them...

Unless Syria will allow a joint Iraq-Syria-US led operation against terrorists in Syria...

But the good news is that Al-Qaeda must be hurting to post such threats...

We can only hope. It will do for the Jihad what Tet did for the VietCong.

This particular apostate is rather skeptical of this threat. If they can do it, why wait until now? Why have they not taken Baghdad already?

Apostate signing off..
