I like Walmart's prices, and selection. I can't blame em for hiring these folks when the government watches em cross the border every day and does nothing about it.

Big Business isn't charged with protecting our borders, nor are state governments.

THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS.

Lets just arrest, try, and sentence people guilty of crimes: those who are here illegally and those who hire them. And if it can be shown that politicians are receiving bribes in the form of campaign donations in order to look the other way, then they should be convicted as well.

Sounds like the best plan that I have heard of so far!

Hmmm, I doubt that they would be crossing the border if no one hired them.
Its a circle of blame.

You're right. And its Big Business who slips money into the polititians pockets so that they look the other way, so that they have cheap labor.

That's the new excuse/justification for hiring illegals? Have you no sense of patriotism to wish to stop these people from invading the United States? Why have you stopped honoring the sovereign right to be a seperate nation of citizens called Americans? When did you abrogate your sovereignty to anyone who happens to make it across our border?

Just because you have given up so easily doesn't mean the rest of us want to.

"New Jersey has long been the next stop for immigrants after New York City. Nothing new here."

I'm 47 1/2 years old. I grew up in Manhattan and have lived in the NY Metro area my entire life. Never have I felt like a stranger in my own country, except for the last 5 years or so. Yeah, there IS something new here, and it's not good.

Muchas gracias Sr. Bush.

The politicians we elect are responsible to do the protecting of the borders through the government. If they are all receiving bribes we should get a group together and overthrow em and replace em with a legit government.

Business however should function separatly. Big Business is not the enemy, it is in fact the source of what keeps this nation from the economic cesspool that is Europe. It is only with big business that the free market can survive, and blaming business for the failure of politicians is juvenile.

There is a great leap between acknowledging a problem of illegals and placing blame where it doesn't belong. Walmart ain't standing at the border looking for patrol agents, and they don't need to because sniveling coward politicans refuse to patrol it.

It is the Walmarts that keep the economy on fire, and I refuse to jump on the socialist state-controlled business bandwagon out of labor fears.

Cracking down on business is not a solution

Sure it is. Fines and jail time for those who knowingly hire invaders, or don't do thorough checks, would close the job market. No jobs, no free medical, food stamps, housing etc., the invasion would be curtailed.

Besides that, these aren't "jobs US citizens wouldn't do". They would do them, if wages, hours, and benefits weren't at the slave level.

Some would cross the border to "steal" if need be and it probably is. The point is it is our border not theirs. Shut it down and "NOW". Thankyou Mr Bush who I voted for in good faith. I hope you enjoy the support you once had!!!

It's labor fears. It's honoring the heritage of being a sovereign nation. Something you don't seem to care about.

This nation was not built on the notion of soverignty, frankly the fact that the federal government has failed as miserably as it has in the few jobs the founders entrusted to it is disgusting, but none the less the founders were not prone to blame the woes of the country on business, they were pro capitalism, pro free market, and pro the government protecting the borders.

Liberal socialists like to pretend that business causes the problems which government does.

Why do we expect them to check immigrant status when we don't even allow government agencies to do the same thing? Why do we prosecute Walmart for paying wages for work done when the governments gives money to the same people for no work? Just because you love Wal-Mart doesn't make them exempt, nor should it. No business should be exempt. This is not just up to the government, this is up to us all and our first job is to elect people who will address this problem not give lip service to it, but that does not excuse businesses from obeying the law, including Wal-Mart.

This is one of the reasons Wal-Mart outprices its competitors. What'll they do next, employ Al Queida operatives?

Please, don't let the facts get in the way of your hatred of Wal-Mart.

WT Frell are you talking about. I have not blamed the businesses. At the same time don't realize there are laws, made by the government, that make it illegal to hire illegals? Have you been paying attention or are you so enamored of cheap stuff at Wal Mart that you don't care if millions of illegals run roughshod over the laws and sovereignty of the United States?

Let me say it simply. It's illegal to hire an illegal. Get it?
