The asertion that ridiculously tough penalties for hiring ilegals, and that Big Business is the reason ilegals are coming here is silly. The notion of penalizing companies that contract with companies who hire ilegals is positively anti-the-rule-of-law.

There is one single reason we have an epidemic of ilegals: The Federal Government refuses to protect the border.

Every drug smuggler, every 2$ fruit picker, every off the books cleaning guy subcontracted by wallmart. Every construction worker who only speaks spanish waiting on the corner for day work, Every single one is here for the same reason: The federal government refuses to protect our borders. That's it. When they do Pedro won't be able to come here, and no body will be able to hire him.

No jobs, no free medical, food stamps, housing etc., the invasion would be curtailed.

Interesting point. Do the freebies attract people? A few, maybe, but overall it wouldn't make a bit of difference. Where they come from all their property is extralegal, all the work they do is extralegal, all the businesses they own are extralegal. They won't do any worse inside the US even without the welfare--that's just bonus.
