ah, I thought we were talking about the OLD WEST!. I don't care about that darn show.
Who won? HBO. They were showing Rome.
My wive TIVOed it and I have to say , that WAS a pretty damn good episode and Alan Alda did a great job expressing the conservative view of limited government. At the end, I told my wife "Damn, I'd vote for anyone who would just get up and say that." I also though he owned Santos in that debate, something I was rather surprised to see considering the liberal slant of the show.
The show was scripted. Alan Alda's character did a good job, perhaps.
Of course it was scripted, its a TV show. I don't think anyone who was watching didn't think it wasn't scripted, its west wing for Pete's sake. But you have to understand, this WAS a damn good dialogue of liberal VS Conservative viewpoints on the nature of government. I've never seen any TV show do that before. Ever.
Sutherland played himself in "The Eye of the Needle", I believe.
Alan Alda is a great actor...flaming liiberal...but great actor. He was the best thing in the movie THE AVIATOR. His performance was so understated. He played the corrupt Republican Senator, but he was human. Alec Baldwin played his usual tyranical self as the President of TWA. Say what you want about Alda, he can act.
Those times sucked. Bad hygiene, undependable news, politicions on the take, barbarians literally at the gate, citizens more concerned about entertainment than reality...
er
Never mind.
