The Germans are leery of overt police action because of their infamous past, but the police mentality has been lurking just below the surface all these years, restrained, just slightly threatening. Everybody is well-behaved and lowkey because they don't want that to return. But it could, and overnight.

Interestingly enough, he has said he wil not come to visit Florida anymore since the new gunlaws were enacted.

Blame that one on the Brady Campaign ad:

Thinking about a Florida vacation? Please ensure your family is safe. A new law in the Sunshine State authorizes nervous or frightened residents to use deadly force. In Florida, avoid disputes. Use special caution in arguing with motorists on Florida roads. Police and prosecutors are concerned about the potential for unnecessary violence.

The truth is this:

Under Florida law, there is no "duty to retreat" if you are attacked in any place you have a lawful right to be. Instead, you may stand your ground and meet force with force, including deadly force, if you reasonably believe it is necessary to prevent death or great bodily harm to yourself or others.

Assure him all is sunny and beautiful here -- clear and 80 degrees. Other than the pythons eating cats and gators in the everglades, all is peaceful in the Sunshine State. As long as he doesn't invade someone's home or attack someone with deadly force, he should be fine. Killing tourists hurts our sales and resort tax dollars, so we try to keep it to a minimum. ;-)

I was quite shocked at how wussie German youth seem now. Adorable but saccharine.
It is quite hard to find out what a people truly thinks; there is the story the media tells us: That all Germans are full of remorse and can't sleep at night because of the holocaust; that they have learned so much from their history that they have drawn just the same conclusion from it as all those journalists telling us about it: That war is evil, and we, the Germans, are in this unique position to educate the entire planet about the virtues of pacifism, and if only everybody on the planet began acting like our government is telling him to, eternal peace and happiness will result! That's why all control has to be immediately turned over to our government in Berlin; resistance is futile; ve have vays of making you happy; ve vill make you feel rreal peace! Any non-peace feelings are strictly prohibited! These thumbscrews are only there to make you happy!

But these people are only a minority. The average German is shockingly oblivious to all these intellectual worries. Whenever you can't stand those pathetic college wussies anymore, just visit a German soccer game. The overwhelming power of proletarian right-wing rage you see there is so impressive that you'll quickly realize what is really driving German interior politics.

"It's a good opportunity to Baptize the Muslims who are cool with Jesus. They don't have to stop praying 5 times a day or start eating pork, they just have to repeat what historical opportunity was given to the former pagan Vikings to live with Christian Europeans."

I'm a bit confused by your post. Most of the Norwegian peoples freely chose Christianity. The death of King Harald Hadratta of Norway and the destruction of his army at the Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066- generally regarded as the end of the Viking era- may have played a role also.

There was one Viking chieftan- Vladimir of the Rus- who, upon accepting Christ and being baptized, decided his subjects should become Christian too. So he forced all of his people upon penalty of treason to be baptized in the Dnieper river.

http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/source/nestor.html

One wonders how many of those conversions were sincere.

Even if we were to do the same to Muslims, could we actually change their hearts? Is a forced conversion sincere? And if a person is baptized a Christian, but continues to pray towards Mecca five times a day, are they really Christian? Didn't Jesus say "A man cannot serve two masters."?

"Schroeder is out of power"

The problem the Jerrys have is that Schroeder is out of power and so is everyone else. Merkel is having a bit of trouble forming a government.

Yes, "mainland" Vikings who didn't wander off eventually became Christians themselves (mostly by free will, I suppose, except in the case you mentioned).

The country I refer to is Ireland, where some Vikings wanted to settle, make babies with the Irish ladies, drink the best beer in the world, and not have to worry about angry brothers and fathers.

Irish: "Yor gonna haf ta be a Christian!"

Viking: "How?"

Irish: "We pour some water on yor head, the Fahder says some word in La'in, and yor Christian. Then we get you drunk. Then we get you married. And we get drunk too."

Viking: "Okay."

The Irish have a way of talking people into the Faith. How do you think so many priests came from that little soggy patch of rock?

This is a good one. The only thing is not to let the pseudo-civil-libertarians (as opposed to those who are truly grounded in concepts in true liberty) get the upper hand. We will all be dead if they get in charge.

Aha! I was a mere tourist--and it was 1985, the Wall was still up, and the exchange rate heavily favored the US dollar.

In my wanderings through Germany, I kept looking for signs in people I met of what could possibly have compelled them to follow Hitler. In those who were old enough to have been part of that war, I saw such unbending pride. Also, though blonde,I look somewhat Jewish, and knew enough (college) German to understand some comments in German from people on the streets disparaging my apparent Jewishness. A bit disconcerting.

I don't know what Germans can do to launder their WW2 image. But I hope they do it soon enough to keep their country from becoming an islamist state.

On the other side of that coin, my later vacation in Turkey was pure delight. Many Turks I met there had lived in Berlin, spoke wonderful English and German. (To them, I was "Fraulein." LOL) I had the impression that the Turks in Berlin were very westernized and also very good-natured. They could teach the Paris idiots a lot.

Revive Charles "The Hammer" Martel and save Europe!

You mean instead of Jacques "The Marshmallow" Chirac?

I wish you the best.

Hopefully the German govt. will stomp down these copy-cats quickly. I have plans to be in and around Frankfurt on business the 2nd week of December. I don't think that the German authorities would appreciate me checking my firearms as checked baggage like I do in the states.

God sees I want Germany to be Christian, not Islamic! I wish German Christians all the best and first of all not to allow Muslims and leftists to destroy your Christian heritage.

Yes my prayers too that the muslims will fail to make that place islamic.
