Pleasee sign this petition opposing the "Crescent of Embrace" design being developed for the Flight 93 memorial. Despite vague comments by the designer and the Park Service, the design is going forward as yet unchanged.

PETITION: Oppose the "Crescent of Embrace " Proposal for the Flight 93 Memorial

We must, as US citizens oppose this travesty and make our voices heard. If enough of us do so, we will be successful as we were in opposing the Flag Raising Monument in January of 2002 that had been planned for the WTC Flag Raising.

Start your email chains, link to it on your sites, talk it up in the forums you frequent, call your relatives and friends, inform your neighbors.

No, I'm suggesting you contact them. ;) This seems to be your project. If you are serious about it, that is the way you are going to get tens of thousands of signatures.

Some clown is already trolling the petition. Is there an edit feature?

points to mecca? huh?

It is not even a crescent, just a semicircle.

This is a crescent.

This monument is a clear semicircle and doesn't come close to resembling a crescent moon. The Islamic crescent moon would continue on much more than this semicircle.

I personally think the monument is pretty stupid and why it got picked I don't know. But, do you honestly think they would have chosen this if they thought it would promote Islam? Please.

Well...I am suggesting that everyone in agreement get invcolved. That's how it will take off...whomever we contact.

I will of course contact all I can. But...we did get over 420,000 signatures on the WTC Flag Raising Petition because common people forwarded it on and others picked it up from there. Thats the effort here as well.

Victim's FAMILIES chose the design as well. The idea that a victim's family would willingly support a design of the ideology is ridiculous.

It isn't even a real crescent, just a semicircle.

Well, you email them and I'll do the same. Maybe if enough of us email them they will link the petition.

Can only ask the management at PetitionOnline to do so...and they are good about doing so. Probably come off on Monday and they will try and track down and go after those disrupting their site with such profanity.

I get the point...but we do not need the language posted here as well. This is also a family site...and the language is unfit for repeating IMHO.

Can you explain what this is depicting? Where exactly are the lines intersecting?

As my Grandpa used to say, "If you're getting flak, that must mean your over the target."

My little happy goal for tomorrow morning is to call various Congress critters, and let them know that this will not stand.

We will met at dawn, tomorrow.

Sorry...intentional or not...it is too close a resemblance for me, and it is called a "Crescent" by the designer himself.

I believe the point is that the poster is saying that supposedly when you subtend the arc and draw a line perpindicular to it that passes through the center, it also passes very, very close to Mecca.

I am not happy about repeating it, but I can't believe how quickly the vile comments were posted. I mean, we're talking about a matter of minutes! And I didn't even post the filthiest! The only reason why I posted it is because, I want people tomorrow morning to see for themselves that this is not a drill. These morons are vile and there is no line that is too far for them.

"But, do you honestly think they would have chosen this if they thought it would promote Islam?"

Remember the 9/11 memorial in NYC they were going to build until pissed off citizens put a stop to it? I think that answers your question.
