Looking forward to this! Hopefully my bride will not be to bored with it.
I'm glad I don't watch TV. I think it's a safe bet that this will not be an honest appraisal of the Crusades and why they were initiated.
acts of barbarism cut wounds that are still felt to this day.
That's because Islam has committed them in the past 24 hours
eh.
It's 8pm Central time. If you follow the link to the History Channel, it requires a slight wait for it to load.
Eh.
How about:
"It was the collision between a great faith and an international protection racket."
(snip)
This November, The History Channel travels back in time for a historical, vivid and clear-eyed look at the first three Crusades, the battle between the Crescent and the Cross, which still shapes the Middle East and relations between the two great religions in our present-day world.
Since they left out the initial wars of aggression by the muslims to slaughter the Christians, Jews and pagans who occupied these lands and only talk about the Crusades as the "battle for control" you can already tell it's a pack of lies.
The History Channel, promoting Dhimmitude via a cable system near you.
Been avoiding the History channel since they chose Christmas as the time to air a program suggesting Mary was raped by a Roman soldier.
It should be the History (according to liberals and athiest) channel.
Only one way to find out.
What you will come away from this fine series knowing is that the Crusades was a church-sponsored Holocaust resulting in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Muslims and Jews an ethnic cleansing if you will with the goal of taking back Jerusalem from the Muslims.
Sounds like the standard modern Karen Armstrong-style "Crusaders-were-eeeeeeevil-and-Muslims-were-gentle-peaceful-victims" spin.
*rolls eyes*
True...I'll lurk here and wait for reports...;)
Maybe I'm all wet, but the timing seems bad to me. We've already had the media and others put gasoline on the fire. Is the History Channel (very worthwhile watching, IMO) adding fireworks for good measure?
If the Crusades are on t.v., look for the story to be revised and biased..... against the Christians. Best, and perhaps most accurate book ever written about the Crusades was by Hillaire Belloc.

Modern shows on the Crusades are adventures in multi-culturalism. They take the fact that there were honorable and dishonorable men on both sides to make it seem like Islam and Christianity are equally bad/good.
First off, many of the Crusaders were clearly not Christian in the first place. They may have professed to be Christian, but they practiced evil. Secondly, our entire civilization, including its belief in individual freedom and democracy, owes its existance to the Europeans. Had the Muslims won, America as we know it would not exist.

Heathen, heretic, insensitive clod, how dare you!!

Exactly.
