If the Crusades are on t.v., look for the story to be revised and biased..... against the Christians. Best, and perhaps most accurate book ever written about the Crusades was by Hillaire Belloc.

Was the book called "The Crusades: The World's Debate" by Hillaire Belloc. You recommend it?

Vol. 4 of The Christians series, titled The Sword of Islam( www.christianhistoryproject.com ) pulls no punches as far as the brutality of the initial conquests--Islam spread solely by the sword; Christianity did not spread by the sword at all, with perhaps the exception of Charlemagne subduing the Saxon revolt, but even there, the initial embrace of Christianity was voluntary.

Sorry, it's vol. 5 that deals with the rise of Islam, not vol. 4.

Full Disclosure: I prefer The Servile State which was written before the Russian Communist Revolution.

I LOVE Hillary Belloc. Did you see his Five Heresies? One of which is Islam? He totally skewers Islam as a heresy of Christianity, which it is. of Catholicism. I bet his book on the Crusades is good. I think I will not watch the History Channel tonight. I just bet it is LIES.
