If we had a more conservative President like, say, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, we'd be placing the Muslim population in camps and slamming the door of immigration on them shut. Amazing what nitwits the French are. The burnings were bad enough in the beginning. Then the elderly woman on crutches set on fire wasn't enough. Then the buildings burning down weren't enough. Will shooting at the police be enough?

Maybe they'll launch an investigation into why the social programs have failed all these people.

Don't know what happened, but 20 years ago the French had roving Swat teams known by their initials (can't recall what), but I do remember being told give those guys wide berths. The take no BS and if they give you an order and you don't "understand", too bad.

Those, and snipers in the problem areas taking out selectively the masked leadership should put out this fire tres quickly...

It's only a question of "when".

Fox said that 12 were hurt, two seriously. They also reported that police are outnumbered and moral is very low among the ranks. Obviously Chirac has lost control!

I was thinking the same. If I remember correctly, Germany has a large Islamic population. I remember seeing something like "Turksish! Roust Auslander" graffiti in most German cities in the early 1980's.

I imagine there are several countries on the verge of the same type of violence.

If the French would recognize this for the invasion it is, they would let the Legion loose in the streets. The have no Posse Comitatus restriction that I'm aware of, and the police administration and their political overseers have truly shown themselves as the heirs of Clouseau.
