THE FIRST RULE of the Slurg is: You do not talk about the Slurg.

I love his press conferences... reporters never get the upper hand with Rummy.

I've always liked Rummy. This article does a lot to explain his vision (one military) and his concern for our troops (allowing the military to bid on assignments).
America has always had a superb military force, but Rummy's concept of them as all members of the same team who can outwit and outmaneuver the enemy appeals to me greatly. In too many past conflicts, we had troops who were cannon fodder instead of being the controllers of the action.

so, how is this article able to talk about it ?Mentioning an organization has nothing to do with a think tank, and delicate conversations behind closed doors. Have you ever heard of the FBI, CIA, MI5, MI6?

He would make an excellent President. In my mind's eye, it's a toss-up between Rummy and Cheney. I respect them both... more than W.

Of course you're right.
I'm guessing not too many people knew SLURG even existed
before the Esquire article came out.
Rumsfeld had to give his approval for the article, so it's really no big deal.
It just caught me as odd, especially with no caveat.
How about this...."It's a secret society"
Then the article in the next breath mentions the participants, by title, of which it is easy to put names to.
Now I know the society name, the names of the participants, some of it's rules, a past chair.
Course, I could probably get the same info from DOD or DOD related web site.
This country leaks like a sieve.
