Youths greet deputy with Molotov cocktail

LANCASTER - Two boys were arrested Friday night for allegedly throwing a Molotov cocktail at a sheriff's patrol car. The incident occurred at 11:15 p.m. Friday night on 30th Street East near Avenue K, where a Lancaster Sheriff's deputy was driving his marked patrol car northbound on 30th Street East.

"The deputy saw an object fly out in front of his car," stated a written report approved by Sgt. Cory Kennedy.

The object, which landed about 10 feet in front of the deputy's car, turned out to be a plastic bottle full of lighter fluid with a rag stuffed in the spout. Deputies believe the bottle was intended to be an homemade incendiary device commonly called a Molotov cocktail, which is meant to break and light a fire.

In this case, the rag was burned, but the bottle did not break or explode.

Sheriff deputies conducted an area search after the incident. After a short investigation, they arrested two boys who were charged with throwing the object at the deputy's car.

Arson investigators have taken over the investigation.

The identities of the two youths were not released because they are juveniles.

Well there certainly are enough of us "rednecks" in the area.

During the Rodney King insurrection, when most of the local law enforcement was called away, our shopping areas were patrolled by pickup trucks with rifle racks which were full.

Nothing burned up here.

It seems there may be some benefits to government educatiion after all.

Next time these two want to make trouble for themselves using fundamental terrorist tactics, they might want to get to at least the 5th grade in school.

At the rate they are going, that should take them another 20 - 25 years.

LOL at them

Learning by doing. Next time, they won't make this mistake...

...they'll use an empty beer can instead.
