CANTON, Ohio -- Two members of the Third Battalion, 25th Marines are still waiting to be welcomed home.
The unit came back to Ohio last month after losing 48 members in Iraq. But the parents of Jason and Johel Woodliff didn't come out for the homecoming. They said they respect their sons' decision to enlist, but they can't reconcile it with their faith.
Johel Woodliff said he begged his mother to greet him and his brother when they came back. He said his parents were upset with him when he turned down a college scholarship to enlist.
Jason Woodliff said he was kicked out of the house when he told his parents he wanted to join the Marines. He said he hasn't spoken with his father in five years.

Yes they are.
What "faith" would prevent them welcoming home their sons? They had not been killed, which should have relieved them.
Can you imagine Jesus would do this? Would he condone it? I doubt it.
JW's are worthless PoS's ....
Shouldn't that be WTFTV?
So mom and pop think Christians should just let the infadels kill us all? Well, that's a judgement that should make for a very interesting Judgement Day. Good luck folks!
As for the sons, I'd be proud to call them my own. God bless these fine men.
Jehovah's Witnesses
Pathetic isn't even the word for them. These type of parents have always been around though. A guy I was dating during the Vietnam War had spent all his High School years fixing up an old classic pickup and loved that truck so much. He enlisted and his parents were so ticked off while he was in Vietnam they sold all of his stuff, even his prized truck. When he came home and asked about his things they told him they figured he would get killed and wouldn't need them anyway. Most of my family served in the Military, I was so stunned that people could be so ignorant and not support their own family.
I am amazed at these parents, are they so upset that they can't even celebrate the safe return?? I think they just wanted to get their opion in the news, and guess what- it worked.
Thanks. I'm sensitive to the left demonizing us over Iraq, but I'm not willing to criticize each instance of this happening until I learn more.
JW's are a bad cult. Any parents would have to be brainwashed to do this kind of damage to their own kids.
How convenient they can live in a country that their beliefs would not allow to exist.
Every organism (individual, municipality, nation, etc) can withstand a certain amount of abuse, insult and injury. When the disease gets too intense, death occurs.
They are welcome in my home anytime they choose.
Johel Woodliff said he begged his mother to greet him and his brother when they came back.
SHAME on you mother for turning your back on your sons. SHAME! I'm glad your not my mother. They should stop using Faith as an excuse. It has NOTHING to do with welcoming he and his brother back home.
Pathetic isn't the word for these people. I don't think there is a word that could truly describe them.
God bless you two young men. Maybe your parents aren't proud and not glad you are back but I can tell ya this.... WE ALL ARE! Thanks. you both deserve better.
BFD.
Got news for you you can have a perfectly productive, interesting, enjoyable, and profitable life without ever speaking to him (or any other family member) again.
I think I went 27 years without contact with any known family members once I shoved off.
That we ever communicated again was the result of their finally tracking ME down, not due to any effort on my part.
There are still family members I havent seen/spoken to in over 40 years and dont intend to ever see again.
Life goes on.
Anyone out there good at researching email addresses? I'm not finding a listing for the parents in Canton.
And AP considers this to be news? Sounds like AgitProp is spitting on our soldiers.
