U.S.-Led Forces Launch Major Attack on al-Qaida Stronghold in Major Test for Iraqi Soldiers.
About 3,500 U.S. and Iraqi troops backed by jets launched a major attack Saturday against an insurgent-held town near the Syrian border, seeking to dislodge al-Qaida and its allies and seal off a main route for foreign fighters entering the country.
U.S. officials describe the town of Husaybah as the key to controlling the volatile Euphrates River valley of western Iraq and dislodging al-Qaida in Iraq, led by Jordanian terror mastermind Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.
The U.S.-led operation includes about 1,000 Iraqi soldiers, and the offensive will serve as a major test of their capability to battle the insurgents seen as essential to enabling Washington to draw down its 157,000-strong military presence.

Well, the MSM has to try to minimize the good news, that now one third of the military used were composed of Iraqi soldiers, by making snide remarks about their abilities.

That's for sure. Here is an excerpt from the Fourth Rail:
al Qaeda and their local insurgent allies can either stand and fight to the death, which the U.S. and Iraqi forces will gladly oblige, or tuck tail and leave the strategic border crossing point under control of the Coalition. Heads the Coalition wins, tails al Qaeda loses.
My bet is Zarquawi is either in Tehran or Damascus giving orders.
Zarqawi, being a Jordanian Sunni, is likely in Damascus. At least much of Saddam's nerve agents and other compounds are, likely in earthen bunkers.
Can't wait to hear what the Left will say when they are unearthed.
