SG-1, Atlantis Renewed
SCI FI Channel announced that it has ordered a 10th season of Stargate SG-1 and a third season of its spinoff series, Stargate Atlantis. Production on both 20-episode seasons is slated to begin in early 2006 for summer premieres on SCI FI.
Heading into a 10th season, Stargate SG-1 becomes the longest-running SF drama in American television history, outlasting The X-Files, The Twilight Zone and every iteration of Star Trek. The first half of SG-1's ninth season has averaged 2.4 million viewers per week.
Stargate Atlantis has averaged more than 2.3 million viewers a week for the first half of its sophomore season.
SG-1 co-creator Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper will return as executive producers on both series.
Stargate SG-1 is produced by Double Secret Productions, in association with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. and Sony Pictures Television. Stargate Atlantis is produced by Acme Shark, in association with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. and Sony Pictures Television.
when are they going to bring in the wise-cracking robot? This dog has been dead for quite a while.
Posted at least a week ago.
little slow with this news, aintcha?
Possibly of more import to the franchise is that the syndicated repeats of the show on broadcast TV are sinking in the ratings.
Gateworld.net just posted the other day that Amanda Tapping will be splitting time between SG1 and Atlantis next season. Personally I would have thought Daniel would make more sense, plot wise, but the interactions betweeen Sam and Dr. McKay are priceless.
I think Claudia Black should become more of a regular
It ain't dead until Tom Poston signs up for at least one season.
(OTOH, maybe Beau Bridges IS Tom Poston.)
I don't like her.
She's too skanky.
Even in it's current "dead state", it beats the hell out of the new "Battlestar Galactica". And don't even MENTION that piece of tripe "Firefly".
Sci-fi Ping
Mitchell saved SG-1 and getting (almost) rid of Ford saved Atlantis.
I like Firefly. It does need to be brought up to speed, 2005 style, but, its fun, has great crew interaction, and Ron Glass. What more do you want?
Lousy special effects. Bad sets. ANALOG clocks on the bridge of an interstellar FTL battleship, fer gawd's sake!!!!
Hell, the OLD Battlestar Galactica, as hokey as it was, was better.
The sound producer for Battlestar Galactica should get an emmy award. I've never heard music become such an integral part of TV show before. Overall, I think it is a great show.
SG-1 and Atlantis. Well, they can stick around for another 20 years as far as I'm concerned.
I don't watch science fiction for the music.
"Overall, I think it is a great show."
I disagree.
Excuse me but if one of you have a Stargate/SciFi ping list, would you please add me?
Also, does anybody know if Amanda Tapping had her baby yet?
We just viewed seasons 5-9 of SG1 during the past 6 months... playing catch-up.. I didn't watch the last SG episode yet but now I realize the pregnancy was probably the reason for the break in the season.
"Blessed are those who are uploading the shows so those of us journeying in countries far far away can watch".
;D
She did have her baby and she is back.
