Could this be the start of the French realizing the threat to Western Culture (and their own proud culture)that is staring them in the face?

Bands of youths in balaclavas start by setting fire to parked cars, break shop windows with baseball bats, wreck public telephones and ransack cinemas, libraries and schools. When the police arrive on the scene, the rioters attack them with stones, knives and baseball bats. Maybe we're all missing the obvious here in assuming that it is the evils of Islam that is causing the problem. It just might be the ready access to balaclavas that is to blame for the violence.

So France ceded de-facto soveriegnty over those neighborhoods and got hammered when they tried to move back in.

What ever happened to "reading the riot act," followed by shooting at arsonists and rampaging armed thugs?

France. The only country in the world to ever surrender to a gange of teenagers. We have been joking about it for days but it looks like they are seriously going to surrender.

IT appears to be the start of Civil War in France. My guess this will spread to other Western European countries who have twisted views of immigration ... and could happen here in the USA, especially in California, if something isn't done about our immigraton policies -- and soon!
If Vincente' Fox thinks these people should come to our country for a better life then we need to ask him why he, the President of Mexico, can't provide a better life for his own citizens, why is it up to us?
To: Bob Hyneman
When the French decide to use live rounds this will cease. Until then, they better not ask us for $$ to help recover from their losses.

Men fit to be dhimmis.
The Europeans no longer understand nor even desire to live in a free society: they only demand a small apartment without too much work, and they will gladly trade all of their liberties to obtain it.

Could have something to do with this too: "The police respond by firing tear-gas grenades and, on occasions, blank shots in the air." Ah, but that socialism, gun control, play nice with snakes mentality does such wonderful things for a society.
Made me think about the number of Latin American immigrants (legal and illegal) that come here and never need to learn English.

Firing blanks into the air...why am I not surprised by this distinctly French response to violence?

Wow. Actually, this sounds a lot like the Gaza strip.
You know, where the French consistenly criticize the IDF for defending themselves against the same tactics?
NO SYMPATHY from me. They need to clean house, but I doubt they have the sack for it.
