'I have a problem with the term African American...The word negro is a perfectly good word. There is nothing wrong with that'
Andy Rooney on Imus 11/4/05, MSNBC, 8:45am ET
I find it silly that we have to tiptoe around people so we don't offend them
If it's families,work, church,school or whatever
people go out of their way not to
offend the offensive. I have never understood that.
Chuck!
In this rare instance, Andy Rooney is right.
I find the term "Hey you" works very well. It equally offends just about everyone.
I like "you people".
Okay...
And Sheets Byrd can use the term "white n*gger".
And Dems in Maryland can belittle Michael Steele, a Senatorial candidate (who happens to be black); also pelting him with Oreo cookies in 2002.
And Wolf Blitzer can say "they are so poor" and "so black" about Katrina recipients.
And the Houston Astros have no black players on their roster (I guess you can have skin as black as coal but if you're from the Western Hemisphere, then you aren't "black").
And the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel says that Clarence Thomas's status as "black" deserves an asterisk.
Wow, I am really having a hard time keeping up with liberalism, Dems, and Political Correctness. They are truly revolting and disgusting people.
Say what you want about the convoluted term 'African-American', but at least it's got 'American' in there. That's better than what the race-minded liberals would have us use.
Very best of all is being able to speak comfortably without denoting someone's race at all. Instead of directing someone to find Kyle in a crowd of people by saying 'Kyle is the black guy over there', why not use 'Kyle is wearing the purple shirt'?
What's so hard about this?
I had no idea this idiot was still alive....
I guess that makes him a bitter old honky then.
I wonder where he keeps his sheets...
I want to be called a pig eating infidel American from Idaho "PEIAFI"
We PEIAFI's and Blacks got one thing in common at least "Ribs"
means black in spanish...
If you're female, I wonder how fast it would wear on you if you were continually referred to as 'the blonde'.
Three basic races on earth, Caucasian, Asian and Negro. Or did this get changed be to PC since I heft school.
I recall my brother coming home from school in tears after a black kid called him a "white boy" in a derogatory way.
"I'm not even white," he sniffed ( he was under 10 at the time)," I'm pinky-tan !"
I would guess that it has happened more than once that someone has said "stompk is that blonde over there." I would further guess that you're just having too much fun to let it wear on you. :-)
What if instead you were bald and you were continally referred to as 'the bald guy'? After all, don't you know you're bald? What's the big deal?
Maybe you'd rather have people referring to your shirt color after awhile... I think you get my point now.
Have fun!
Just call me "The Dark Overlord"
Whatever became of "Negroid, Mongoloid, Caucasoid"? I thought those were perfectly good words.
